About Alchemer:

Founded in 2006 Alchemer (formerly SurveyGizmo) is an enterprise data collection, orchestration, and analytics platform that helps some of the biggest brands to deliver on their missions by enabling them to operationalize feedback by integrating critical data from their Customers (employee, users, patients, vendors, etc) into their key business systems through an easy to use, low code SaaS platform.

About the Job:

We’re looking for a seasoned and proven cloud operations leader to lead the platform team. 

You’ll be responsible for 24x7 uptime and availability of production mission critical customer facing cloud services distributed across multiple regions. You’ll help to create more consistent, automated push button environments across all tiers, drive proactive testing and tuning of the infrastructure, streamline CI/CD processes, and establish mature process for all aspects of our production operations.  Implement and enforce best practices and standards, ensure delivery of key projects on-time and with high quality, and provide technical leadership for a local team of DevOps and SRE resources.  You’ll have a good balance of technical depth and managerial skills to support our broad customer base, rapid growth, and operational scale at which we’re currently operating as well as future demands. Your technical experience with planning, architecting, deploying and operating enterprise level production workloads in a cloud environment that meet or exceed key SLAs will be critical. You will ensure we have the right team structure and processes to ensure consistent practices, all the while providing technical leadership on key technology projects and operations.

About You:

You’ve helped to plan, architect, implement and operate mission critical workloads in the cloud leveraging modern practices and patterns all while maintaining uptime and building high performing mature DevOps & SRE teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall management and mentorship for SRE and DevOps Teams to drive consistent practices, standards and best practices
  • Measure and optimize key operations metrics (uptime, response time, resolution time, RTO, RPO, etc) ensure we meet operational SLAs and ensure we meet, test for and have controls to meet security, reliability, scalability, and performance requirements
  • Recruit and retain top notch talent and coach and mentor team members
  • Establish infrastructure architecture strategy, develop roadmap and key milestones, establish technical patterns and work with the team to ensure on time and on budget delivery
  • Create and optimize consistent, automated push button infrastructure
  • Help to triage and resolve escalated issues while managing a 24x7 operations and response teams
  • Manage any incidents to timely resolution, using eeffective and efficient incident management tools, and processes and by engaging with development team to triage production issues, develop RCA reports, and action plans to continuously improve quality and reliability
  • Own AWS budget (planning, operating and optimization) and ensure we are running as cost effectively as possible
  • Seek out and advocate for reduction of technical debt, refactoring opportunities, performance optimizations, re-architecting opportunities in order to continue to improve systems, processes and documentation for the team

Your Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing 24x7 production operations for a high-volume, business-critical cloud service with significant experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Experience running an agile DevOps oriented organization and culture using modern frameworks, technology, DevOps practices using infrastructure as code tools (terraform, cloud formation) and configuration management tools (puppet, chef, ansible)
  • Proven ability to manage teams to meet key milestones while achieving quality, scalability, security, and redundancy requirements.
  • Strong application architecture and best practices experience and proven track record with testing, tuning and optimizing large scale mission critical infrastructure
  • Experience working in security and compliance frameworks – SOC, ISO, PCI, FedRamp, etc
  • Team player with demonstrated communication and organizational skills. Comfortable leading meetings and presenting in front of groups of colleagues, partners or customers
  • Proven ability to thrive under tight deadlines while successfully juggling a multitude of projects simultaneously
  • Extreme level of energy, highly self-motivated, and a passion for success

Compensation for this position includes an annual base salary of $150,000 to $180,000, and participation in the Founder’s Pool program.
