We are Origin, a startup based in Denver and Boulder, Colorado building a sharing-economy marketplace to connect adventure-seeking travelers with Local guides for an authentic outdoor experience. We’re a group of individuals who love encouraging people to get outside and explore while doing so in a way that will allow future generations to enjoy outdoor recreation and nature. We have big plans, and we’re looking extremely passionate and talented people to join our team. We are familiar with the terrain in both the Rocky Mountains and Silicon Valley. We are actively merging the two regions in order to make a lasting impact on the Adventure Travel/Outdoor Industry and our amazing planet. We are currently looking for a UI/UX Designer in Denver, Colorado to join us on our mission of transforming the industry.

This designer will join the very fast-paced start-up environment of Origin, where we are looking to enter and transform one of the most exciting, fulfilling, and fun economies in the world. This person has the critical responsibility of ensuring that Locals and Users have the best experience on our web-based platform as possible. This will include the further expansion and improvement of the front-end of our platform and the development of new features to offer to our user base. In this mission, this motivated, driven and experienced Designer will be responsible for prioritizing and supervising all key initiatives on front-end design and ensuring consistency between our brand and platform.

About You

  • Your portfolio features amazing, clean, intuitive, and thoughtful work.

  • Record of creating great experiences: You know what details matter at each stage, how to motivate engineers to get the fit and finish right, how to translate insights from user studies into meaningful action, and what's most likely to go awry at each stage.

  • You can share several examples of real work you've shipped, and what you learned along the way.

  • Capability to drive product decisions: You're a product manager's secret weapon. You thrive best when helping to define the requirements, not just translating them into designs. You facilitate and execute the best design ideas from teammates.

  • A never ending focus on your users: You don’t hesitate to contact users, or get out and adventure with a Local to uncover the truth about what they need.

  • Attention to the bottom-line: Analytics don't intimidate you, and you know which features can act as multipliers on your company's business model.

  • Great skills of planning and prioritization that lets you be more flexible: You have a demonstrated ability to take large complex projects and create a clear timeline of tasks and deliverables in a way that leverages teammates, tests, and iterates.

  • Cross-platform comfort: Hopefully you've shipped something across several platforms. You know what translates from desktop and what doesn't, or why you'd opt for one solution for desktop and another for mobile.

  • You stay up-to-date on the latest design trends and apps in the market, and are always ready to update and improve your designs.

Your Experience and Skills

  • 3-5 years of product design experience.

  • Expert at developing and conveying ideas clearly in written and visual format - making business concepts and data visually engaging through use of color, typography, images, icons, infographics, and animation.

  • Master of Adobe Creative Cloud, Sketch, InVision, Figma and other design tools.

  • Cross-platform design experience (Web, Mobile and native Android and iOS apps, emails, slide decks)

  • Attention to detail — every decision on every pixel matters.

  • Deadline-driven with the ability to prioritize projects concurrently.

  • Eagerness to research and be with your users.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with people from all disciplines and levels.

  • Ability to improvise and find creative solutions to new and difficult problems.

Opportunities at Origin

  • Match your work and career with your passions.

  • Join an innovative and disruptive startup looking to make a big splash at the intersection of technology and adventure travel.

  • Become a part of the organization, leading the way for future designers and blazing a trail for others to follow.

  • Bring your passions, ideas, and vision for the future of adventure travel and outdoor recreation to the table and make a lasting impact as the company develops.

  • Take advantage of our benefits and continue your active and healthy lifestyle and get pro-deals and discounts with select outdoor retailers.
