The Role: Located in Boulder, CO or Fully Remote

A Sr. Industrial Designer at PopSockets demonstrates the ability and willingness to develop innovative, exciting solutions to business problems, while possessing passion to challenge the status quo and find new solutions. They take a humble collaborative approach required to understand organizational problems and believe in a nonhierarchical culture of collaboration, transparency, safety, and trust. Fascinated with how users experience products, this designer has a customer-centric hunger to improve those experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop products from concept to prototyping and testing phases
  • Deliver world-class 3D models, drawings, and renders
  • Facilitate work sessions with product teams and users to define key design goals and requirements
  • Lead the user-experience and product-design efforts for the team
  • Conduct user research to inform, iterate, and validate the product design using methods such as field observations, interviews, contextual inquiries, surveys, and remote usability testing
  • Work closely with Mechanical Engineering to ensure parts meet manufacturability and cost requirements 
  • Create prototypes early and oftenInterface closely with Product Management to define new product features and priorities while generating supporting reference documentation
  • Collaborate with the Software team to develop cohesive experiences that link our physical and digital products
  • Coordinate with our CMF (Colors, Materials, Finishes) team
  • Work with our manufacturing partners to ensure our designs become realities

Requirements

  • Must submit a design portfolio or link to your work to be considered
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or equivalent
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in either design-led organizations or agencies, preferably with experience in high-volume consumer goods, consumer electronics, or accessories
  • Experience in 5+ major product or portfolio releases
  • Expert command of industry standard design tools (eg Solidworks, Keyshot, Adobe CS)
  • High attention to detail
  • Highly skilled at complex surfacing
  • Experience conducting user research and user testing
  • Exceptional collaborator with cross-functional teams from engineering, design, and business
  • Embraces a hands-on approach with frequent quick prototyping
  • Strong communication skills, with ability to articulate and optimize design based on the value to the user and the business
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting, including synthesizing abstract ideas into concrete design implications
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally up to 15% (conditions allowing)

Pay range: $100,000 to $135,000
