Spekit is a just-in-time, in-app learning and knowledge solution that helps teams learn applications, adopt new process changes and find any bit of information instantly, at their fingertips. Think of Spekit as your employee’s digital companion, enabling them everywhere they work.

With its one-click integration to Salesforce, Spekit allows you to create training from your existing business processes, document new fields and automatically displays the training contextually, when and where your users need it to enhance the user experience and accelerate onboarding.

With over $14M in VC funding from Bonfire Ventures, Matchstick Ventures, The Foundry Group, Renegade Partners, The Operator Collective and other top VCs, thousands of employees from scaling startups to Fortune 400 organizations leverage Spekit to onboard new hires, facilitate change management and drive adoption of their Salesforce CRM and other internal applications.

The role:

Spekit is a growing technology company focused on contextual learning that appears inside the tools they know and use everyday. This means we get to design for various form-factors such as webapp, a suite of Chrome extension tools, mobile, transactional emails and adoption, Slack app and more.

Design and UX are at the core of everything we do at Spekit. We are an early stage startup with an amazing trajectory and growth. Joining the design team at this phase, you’ll be able to play a key role in shaping the future of Spekit. This role envisions how people will experience our product and bring that vision to life in a way that feels “simple yet spektacular” as we put it internally. We work hard to bring fun and moments of magic to the product.

You’ll take on complex tasks and transform them into intuitive and easy-to-use designs for our various user types—ranging from novice users to sophisticated champion admin users. You’ll collaborate closely with other designers, engineers, business stakeholders and product managers throughout the design process to achieve solutions that are smart, beautiful, and impactful. You’ll work closely with the head of design and chief product officer to create and execute against the product roadmap in a dedicated pod of product, design and engineering. At each stage - from crafting user flows and conceptual wireframes to high fidelity UI mockups and interactive prototypes, you will serve as an advocate for the voice of the user and guide your collaborators towards solutions that build that empathy.

We are a distributed team that collaborates closely to solve complex challenges and craft powerful experiences that highlight our products’ unique capabilities and personalities.

Responsibilities

  • Sketch and define best practice interaction models and interfaces for Spekit products and features that reflect a solid understanding of user behaviors across platforms (web, mobile, etc).
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other designers to do discovery and definition phases - based on the client brief, research (analytics, competitive, category), brainstorming and instincts. User research experience a plus.
  • Develop high level and/or detailed user-centric documentation including user flow diagrams, storyboards, mockups, wireframes, and prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas. Ability to develop highly interactive prototypes is a big plus.
  • Gauge the usability of new and existing products and making constructive suggestions for change.
  • Translate complex ideas into visually elegant, user-friendly designs.
  • Manage, leverage and contribute to the Speksys Design System including documentation for building bulletproof components that can be used across our ecosystem
  • Create documentation about the product to ensure teams understand all use cases and scenarios to design and develop against.
  • Present your work internally and to customers; clearly articulate design decisions and rationale for design decisions.
  • Stay on top of best-in-class interactive design and technologies.

Minimum qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in user experience and interaction design
  • At least 1-2 years working for a SaaS or software company
  • BA/BS degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or equivalent degree / practical experience
  • A portfolio showcasing your design and UX skills.
  • Expert with design tools (e.g. Sketch, Figma, Principle, Framer, Photoshop) to produce wireframes and high fidelity mockups
  • Experience designing and shipping production software
  • Experience with user research methodologies to amplify design impact
  • Experience collaborating with Product Management and Engineering counterparts and experience working with collaborators across time zones

What we’re looking for:

  • A strong understanding of interaction design concepts
  • The ability to clearly rationalize, communicate and document your design decisions
  • An excellent sense of typography, layout, and general design principles
  • Someone who is meticulous, well organized, but able to iterate quickly
  • Someone who is comfortable defining success metrics and making data-driven design decisions
  • A self-starter attitude - ambitious, seeks new challenges, loves to learn
  • Familiarity with existing and emerging usability standards, web technologies, patterns, and best practices
  • A passion for solving complex design problems elegantly.
  • Someone who can approach a problem from multiple perspectives and offer a variety of suitable solutions and discuss them intelligently.
  • Have strong interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage multiple briefs simultaneously
  • Humility, thoughtfulness and a sense of humor

Bonus points for:

  • Experience in e-learning, sales/CRM software
  • Experience working with web or mobile based technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.
  • Experience defining brands, visual design collateral, providing overall creative direction
  • Experience with content strategy and larger information architecture projects
  • An understanding of Lean UX methodology (sprints, epics, prototyping, test and learn, …)

Things we value, culture-wise

  • Team Player. We believe that customer experience starts with your employee experience and as such, we believe in collaboration, transparency, integrity, trust, listening, doing what is right, and always going above and beyond for our team.
  • Grit & Growth. We run towards challenges. If something seems unsolvable, it unleashes our persistence, our creativity, and our ability to move through uncertainty to create a solution.
  • Positive & Purposeful: We’re a collaborative team of innovators and are always looking to think 3 steps ahead of our competition. We think at scale, imagine what’s possible and then work our way backwards with an MVP approach to everything we do.
  • Simple yet Spektacular. We’re in the early stages of building something really great and that requires a lot of hands on deck and a focus on execution. In this journey, we uncover joy in simplicity, obsess over the experience, pivot quickly and always reach for excellence.
  • Open-Minded. We are a diverse group of lifelong learners. We approach our work with curiosity and constantly look for ways to improve our products and ourselves, never settling for good enough.
  • Work Smart and Be Present: As a startup, it can feel like you’re racing against the clock at all times – where “more” is the only path forward. We believe that you do your best at work when practicing mindfulness, getting the right amount of sleep and prioritizing the things that truly matter in life.
  • Enjoy the Journey. Love what you do and who you do it with! We embrace joy and kindness and we bring our authentic selves to work each day. We seek to share our optimism and compassion with everyone around us.
