Senior Database Developer, Operations

Yes Energy is hiring for an early career Senior Database Developer to join our team.
As a Senior Database Developer, in the Data Operations Team, you will apply your analytical skills in several areas including: database development for data collections, database development in support of internal applications, client and internal support, and automated software testing. This position performs both operational work to maintain existing data collections (and related acquisition frameworks and supporting internal tools) to improve the completeness, correctness, and timeliness of data; and also development work to add new data collections into the Yes Energy database, enhance and/or create supporting frameworks, and enhance and/or create internal tools. This position offers candidates an opportunity to develop greater knowledge of energy markets, cloud-based software products, and SAAS businesses, while applying and developing technical, research, and customer-facing skills with one of the most creative and hard-working staff in the industry.

Job Responsibilities

• Ingest, clean, normalize, and combine non-uniform data sources through scraping websites, consuming data APIs, consuming FTP feeds, etc.
• Insure highest possible quality and integrity of Yes Energy Data; recommend and implement ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality 
• Develop and maintain database stored procedures, views and functions for Yes Energy applications both customer facing and internal
• Maintain database packages, procedures, views, metadata systems and related internal tools
• Performance tune PL/SQL stored procedures and packages
• Plan and coordinate data migrations between systems
• Contribute to technical departmental standards in such areas as change control, configuration management, development methodology, and coding standards
• Support customers with data or support issues
• Mentor junior staff for development of their skills in technology, problem solving, communication, and customer service
• Create and maintain technical documentation

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred (Economics, Geography, Computer Science, Math, and Engineering are preferred), or equivalent experience
• 8+ years of SQL experience
• 8+ years of Oracle PL/SQL development experience
• Experience with PL/SQL collections, bulk load techniques, builtin analytic functions, and partitioning
• Passionate about tuning Oracle PL/SQL and SQL for exceptional performance
• Energy Markets experience preferred
• Some python and shell scripting preferred

• Reports to the Program Manager of Data Operations 
• Minimal travel may be required (up to 10 days per year)
