PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Database Administrator will be responsible for the install and configure of SQL Server instances.  Design, build, implement, maintain and administer SQL Server relational databases for use by business units.  Build, schedule, and monitor ETL jobs to import data from outside sources as needed.  Work with the IT Security Architect to create and implement policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of SQL Server instances and databases.  Monitor database performance, capacity, data replication, and other distributed data items and resolve issues. Work with the BI Developer/Analyst on the development and maintenance of the Enterprise BI Application and Reporting Services. Provide recommendations to management and development teams for various hardware/software solutions.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform complex data processing using stored procedures and automates processes for providing data feeds using scripting languages.  (25%)
  • Design, build, implement, maintain, and administer databases and ETL processes on defined schedules and following business requirements.  (20%)
  • Resolve database performance issues, database capacity issues, data replication, and other distributed data issues for analytical dataset applications.  (15%)
  • Perform technical tasks to include computer programming associated with software installations, system modifications, system integration, and application maintenance.  (15%)
  • Provide technical assistance to business lines and analysts. (15%)
  • Create and implement policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of databases.  This includes user access.  (5%)
  • Perform feasibility studies and research on technical issues (5%)

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and three (3) years’ experience in relational database design and administration in a multi-user environment including in depth involvement in system analysis, design, development, and implementation
  • Thorough knowledge of database development, data integration, data transformation and project management.
     
  • MS SQL Server 2012/2014 Administration Experience
    • Data Definition Language, Data Manipulation Language, Standard Query Language, SQL Server Integration Services, and VBscript
    • Physical Database Design Concepts and Implementation Experience
    • Database Performance Tuning
    • Relational Data Modeling and Logical Database Design
    • Scripting experience
    • Security
  • Experience in Windows Server user and rights management.
  • Experience with programming in a structured programming language or other relational database experience
  • Data analysis skills using tools or other high-level languages
  • Thorough understanding of most common business processes and functions
  • Demonstrated ability as a team leader for highly complex projects that have high impact
  • Demonstrated leadership in providing technical expertise, guidance, and work direction to team members
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organization and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management skills

    WORK ENVIRONMENT and PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    Office environment.
    80% sitting.
    20% walking, standing, bending, etc.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, speak, stand, walk, and listen. The employee frequently is required to use hand, fingers, and arms. The employee is regularly required to use multiple forms of technology including a PC.
