DAT Software & Analytics is looking for a Data Science Manager to lead our Data Science team in Portland, Oregon and Denver, Colorado.

The Data Science Manager we are looking for will own and lead a successful and still growing Data Science team in roadmapping  and productionization.  They will deliver solutions and insights to diverse customer segments in the North American freight industry, utilizing a rich proprietary dataset derived over decades from transactions representing billions of annual freight spend. The ideal candidate should be energized by assessing competitive landscapes and identifying business opportunities, highly collaborative, and eager to own the product development process.

 What You’ll Do

• Develop fluency in our freight trucking domains, data resources, and broader strategy to identify and scope opportunities for the Data Science Group to deliver both near-term incremental improvements and to evolve and pursue our longer-term disruptive vision
• Manage Agile/Scrum meetings across multiple teams with interconnected problems and products; maintain coordination and visibility between parallel roadmaps
• Reporting to the Chief of Analytics, you’ll support the organization with appropriate Data Science resourcing, and build bridges to collaborate effectively across the enterprise with software and data engineers, product managers, business analysts, Marketing, and Sales
• Provide mentorship and guide career development for members of the Data Science Group
• Refine and develop effective, sustainable processes for the Data Science Group
• Expand an established Data Science Group at an organization with a long-standing culture of and reputation for integrity, excellence, and innovation
• Travel occasionally to industry conferences on behalf of DAT

The Skills You’ll Need

• Master's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or another STEM discipline and 3+ combined years of enterprise Data Science experience, BA and 5+ years of enterprise Data Science experience with 3+ years in the position of manager or lead, or equivalent enterprise Data Science individual contributor and leadership experience
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and ability to develop positive working relationships with people throughout the company

 The Tools and Techniques You Should Be Familiar With

• One or more ML-related languages, such as Python or R, in an industrial environment
• Classification, clustering, regression, and time-series forecasting methods
• Data exploration, experimental design, success metric selection, and statistical analysis
• Our core production stack (Snowflake, AWS, and Docker) or analogous platforms such as Oracle or Azure
• Conducting Agile development cycles and CRISP-DM Methodology to bring products to market

Bonus Skills

• Freight or Logistics experience
• Experience with Jenkins and Kubernetes
• A track record of rapid, innovative product delivery
• A service-leadership mindset
