Data Architect:

OrthoFi is looking for an experienced Data Architect with a passion for architecting and developing solutions that generate high impact to the business. This is the key technical leadership role in our expanding Data & Analytics team. You will be responsible for technical leadership and the architecture, design and development of our new Data & Analytics platform. This is a unique opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a new platform build.

As the Data Architect, you will collaborate with OrthoFi’s Product Leadership, Executive team, clients and internal stakeholders. You will use your business acumen to under the needs of our clients and business and design and develop an innovative platform which will deliver to those needs. You will coach and mentor other team members to develop their skills in support of their career goals, and collaborate with product leadership to help build a data-driven culture of insight and well-informed decisions.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Understand the data and analytics needs of our clients and internal stakeholders

• Designing the architecture for our new data & analytics platform to support analytics and data science / machine learning

• Designing the data models and data movement processes that support analytics and data science

• Recommending and implementing patterns and best practices for data engineering

• Ensuring quality processes are built in to the design of the platform

• Hands-on development of the platform functionality and ELT/ETL processes

• Perform architecture and code reviews of the work produced by data engineers

• Coach and mentor data engineers and other team members to foster continuous learning and growth

• Understand the architectural difference between solution approaches and communicate the advantages/disadvantages of your recommendation to both technical and non-technical audiences

• Design and develop analytics and interactive visualizations that create business insights and clearly communicate data and trends

• Develop complex SQL queries to obtain data from our source systems

• Perform data validation and quality assurance to ensure data integrity and accuracy

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Experience architecting and leading implementations of modern data & analytics architectures on the AWS platform

• Understanding of modern data architectures including streaming, big data technologies, schema on read and real-time data analysis

• Experience designing and developing ELT/ETL and data movement processes with an emphasis on data quality and data integrity

• Experience developing advanced SQL queries with complex joins, subqueries and calculations

• Strong Python skills and knowledge

• Demonstrate a solid understanding of the business in which you are working

• Strong business-facing skills to gather and synthesize requirements, recommend solutions and build relationships with our stakeholders

• Experience performing data validation and quality assurance of data engineering practices

• Ability to communicate complex technical and data concepts to less technical audiences

• Git experience and knowledge of branching strategies

• Agile / Scrum experience

• Data warehousing experience

• Tableau experience a plus

• Healthcare and/or Insurance Service experience a plus
