We are seeking an early-career Business Analyst for our corporate strategy, M&A, partnership, market development, and solutions development efforts, reporting to the Chief of Staff of Step Change Labs (SCL), our innovation and growth incubation team. 

What you get to do:

• Provide product and market research and analysis for SCL, corporate strategy, and corporate development initiatives:
  • Using public, subscription, and consulting services; research, synthesize, analyze, and present insights on markets and regulatory landscape. 
  • Identify value streams and quantify value propositions across the electric, gas, and transportation value chains.
  • Build financial and GHG impact models for Uplight solutions.
  • Evaluate the impacts of policy proposals and regulatory actions on Uplight, our channel partners, and our utility clients.
  • Develop decision-support tools to ensure that innovation decisions are aligned with corporate strategy and mission

Skills and experience are necessary, but we hire on value alignment first, so if you feel you would be a good fit with us, still consider applying.

What you will contribute:

• Expertise in market and regulatory research tools and resources
• Strong quantitative analysis skills, including value and risk modeling 
• Decision support tools to enable quantitative inputs to internal decision making and client pitches

What you bring to Uplight:

• 2-3 years of experience in quantitative financial modeling skills
• Ability to quickly build trust with colleagues across functions 
• An enthusiasm for building new tools, processes, and analyses
• Ability to understand context and act upon intent 

Bonus Points:

• An understanding of energy utility business and regulatory models, including the ability to analyze rate making and its impact on utility earnings
• An understanding of DSM programs, distribution planning and/or IRP processes and tools, or wholesale power markets

Salary Range: $60,000 to $70,000 (dependent on experience)
