Job Description

The Data Engineer III contributes to the credit union by participating in the design, development, and maintenance of efficient and resourceful data marts, data pipeline processes, and other database related solutions. The results will enable Ent to meet or exceed various business strategies. The Data Engineer III has an advanced understanding of the methodologies and techniques relevant to a modern data warehouse system. The Data Engineer III also assists as a technical lead in review and mentoring of other Data Engineers.

Essential Functions:

  • Development Creates and/or updates ETL processes. Creates and/or updates database schemas.
  • Maintenance Provides technical support and problem resolution for customer inquiries regarding data warehouse infrastructure. Monitors operating efficiency of existing data warehouse systems.
  • Communication/Documentation Develops partnerships with the consumers of the data warehouse resources and/or various data marts to better understand business needs. Maintains records to document data warehouse development and revisions.
  • Analysis / Modeling / Design Converts functional specifications on business problems into database schema and/or ETL design specifications. Conducts analysis of organizational needs and goals for the development and implementation of data warehouse systems.
  • Bank Secrecy Act: Remains cognizant of and adheres to Ent policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act.

Qualifications

Minimum Formal Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics or a similar relevant field

Minimum Work Experience for Level III:

  • 5+ years' experience in the field of data engineering, data analysis, database development, or data warehousing.
  • 2+ years of Financial Institution experience preferred

Minimum Work Experience for Level Sr.:

  • 7+ years' experience in the field of data engineering, data analysis, database development, or data warehousing.
  • 2+ years of Financial Institution experience. preferred
  • 1+ years' of team leadership / Managerial experience preferred

All degrees listed are considered to be "knowledge consistent with?. Each year of equivalent work experience may be exchanged for 1 year in a relevant degree program or vice versa. For example, 4+ years of required accounting experience could be substituted for an associate's degree and 2+ years of work experience.

Technical or Specialized Knowledge/ Skills:

  • Database Development core skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of and demonstrated experience with the following:
  • Database architecture.
  • Modern data warehousing concepts and practices.
  • Relational data modeling and architecture.
  • Development and maintenance of various data pipeline processes.
  • Optimizing database performance.
  • Advanced knowledge of and demonstrated experience with the following technologies:
  • Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and/or other ETL products.
  • Structured query language (T-SQL, ANSI SQL, SparkSQL, etc.) and Python (preferred).
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with Azure and/or other Cloud concepts, specifically involving databases and/or data warehousing solutions in the cloud.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with development tools such as Microsoft Visual Studio.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with version control systems, preferably Azure DevOps (formerly VSTS) and TFVC and/or Git.
  • Familiarity with Power BI and/or Tableau.
  • (preferred) Some development experience with C# or similar.
  • Database Administration core skills:
  • Performance monitoring.
  • Job monitoring.
  • Security related.
  • Installing and configuring.
  • Other skills
  • Must be able to work independently to deliver complete system solutions and provide guidance within technical area, applying in-depth knowledge of multiple technologies, as appropriate.
  • Must be comfortable working in highly collaborative environments.
  • Must be able to conduct presentations in group settings in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Must be able to learn new and emerging concepts very quickly.
  • Must be able to maintain good productivity in developing efficient code and database designs in a very timely manner, with defect rates kept to a minimum.
  • Experience acting as a consultant to other professionals in IT, providing technical leadership in their area of specialization.
  • Experience with Agile development processes, such as Scrum or Kanban.

Certifications Required:

  • MCSA SQL Server (2016 or later) or similar preferred
  • Azure Data Engineer or similar preferred
  • Databricks engineer or similar preferred

Additional information

The salary range for Level III is: $92,622 to $121,561 (I16)

The salary range for Level Sr is: $103,064 to $135,277 (I17)

This position is eligible for our corporate bonus program based on company performance.
