IT Database Administration Manager I

As a IT Database Administration Manager I, you will lead a team of database administrators with a fundamental responsibility to oversee the administration of the organization's database(s), analyze staff needs of the database(s), and develop a long-term strategy for data storage at Sierra Space. You will combine your technical skills and experience in developing strategies to optimize processes and functions, setting priorities and guidelines, managing budgets and timelines, supervising staff, and solving issues when any arise.

Primary Responsibilities
- Identifies, defines, and assesses the properties and specifications necessary for the database management system (DBMS) to meet current and future needs of the organization.
- Defines a logical database structure for application development based on the organizational structure of the company.
- Defines and executes procedures for testing and implementing new applications in the database environment.
- Develops and implements policies and procedures related to data security and integrity.
- Develops, implements, and monitors access policies, limiting database access on a need-related basis.
- Develops, maintains, and controls additional corporate data libraries specific to the organization, industry, or locality.
- Ensures project and department milestones and goals are met on time and within budget.
- Assesses current and projected database performance, and recommends changes and enhancements.
- Drafts training documentation and guidelines for analysts and end users.
- Resolves data conflicts for matters such as naming conventions, data privacy, and data ownership.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, developments, and best practices in DBMS and related technology.
- System administration of database and application servers (Microsoft and Red Hat)
- Software release management
- Vulnerability remediation and patching
- On-call manager on duty rotation
- Operational support, including platform monitoring and incident response
- Performs other duties as assigned. Keen interest in solving business problems and implementing well architected, scalable, and extensible solutions
- Ability to work well with others, harness different skills and experience, and build a strong team
Must-haves:
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Business, or Mathematics related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education
- Experience managing Analytics/Business Intelligence systems (Microsoft PowerBI)
- Extensive knowledge of Analytics/Business Intelligence tool architectures, functions, features, and customization options and implementations at multi-billion dollar companies
- Experience managing projects, resources, estimating budgets, estimating level of efforts
- Experience in data modeling, especially with SQL Server Analysis Service
- Knowledge of relational databases and multidimensional designs, especially with t-SQL
Preferred:
- At least five years of related experience required with at least one year of supervisory experience preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Thorough understanding of file structures and design, information retrieval techniques, file access methods, and database controls and standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence) or similar collaboration tooling.
- Expert level Microsoft SQL database administrator.
- Windows system administration.
- Experience with on-premise and cloud database implementations.
- Proficient with DevOps/DataOps tooling administration (GitHub, octopus, azure DevOps) or similar DevIos tooling.
- Integration software administration (ActiveBatch, Replicate, Boomi, BizTalk, UC4, or similar).

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $134,597.00 - $185,070.89
Sierra Space offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
