Programming Director - Kids Category
Role Purpose
The Director of Programming for Craftsy's newest category — Kids! — will develop the strategic vision for a diverse and innovative slate of digital video content, often paired with kits, and lead a small team toward creating best-in-class "edutainment" programming. Aimed at creative 6-12 year-olds (plus their parents) and designed to engage Craftsy Unlimited subscribers, this content is the cutting edge of our growing business. Working arm-in-arm with the General Manager and eCommerce Buyer for Kids, the Director of Programming is also a key driver of category-level integrations and initiatives in collaboration with Craftsy’s Product, Marketing, PR and Business Development teams.
Responsibilities
- Research, build and socialize an integrated and differentiated kids content strategy
- Lead a cross-functional team to acquire, develop, produce, edit and merchandise kids content
- Inspire and manage an experienced and creative Category Editor, your direct report
- Develop a clear and thoughtful content testing strategy, evolving your perspective in response to data
- Collaborate with the Kids eCommerce Buyer to connect content and commerce initiatives at the earliest development stages
- Share targeted content and category insights with colleagues across departments
Basic Qualifications
• Minimum 8 years experience acquiring and developing talent and content for kids videos
• A proven ability to break new strategic ground within kids programming, particularly within education and live action content
• Sustained success working in a highly collaborative and deeply creative environment
• Demonstrated excellence among an elite peer group
• Strong operational skills for revitalizing internal processes
• A proven record of successfully managing and mentoring direct reports
• A working knowledge of craft, DIY, STEAM and kids hobby spaces preferred
