You will be integrated into a delivery team as a quality champion. You know that being involved early will allow you to find the holes, gaps, dangling else's and eradicate them even before coding starts (knowing these are BIG WINS for the team you make sure the team celebrates finding them). You facilitate the risk-based testing conversations, keeping the team on the same page risk-wise. You design the quality assurance strategy for the sprints and make sure the delivery team is following the Grid’s QA standards. You ensure quality testing of stories, integration touch points, and deployments from inception to production.

What You’ll Do

• Backend system testing with emphasis on network testing (http, TCP)
• Experience leading QA engineers across teams
• Lead technical decisions for your team and influence technical decisions across your functional domain
• Lead SendGrid QA engineering processes across the delivery team
• Be voice of quality to ensure consistency and quality of the product under test
• Identify automation candidates and work to have automation completed utilizing the Grid’s automation frameworks
• Manage defect process from identifying and recording through to closure, including root cause analysis
• Guide, coach and mentor engineers
• Recommend and champion improvements to our software and product development process
• Audit to ensure manual tests are added to the test case repositories and have maintained traceability attributes
• Represent SendGrid at community events

About You 

• 8+ years of software quality assurance experience, including thorough understanding of SDLC processes, Agile methodologies and quality assurance principles and fundamentals
• Proficient in testing across a highly diverse set of technologies (Databases, Services, APIs, Web Applications, etc.) OR expert in at least one technology
• Proficient in multiple functional domains (frontend, backend, operations, etc.)
• Ability to champion quality and test complex components and large scale systems
• Ability to translate architecture vision into concrete quality initiatives in test
• Able to achieve complex tasks using own judgement
• Aligns actions and personal development with longer-term department goals, and can help define a vision of what may be possible
• Participate as a leader in Agile ceremonies across teams and provide appropriate feedback
• Proficient using test management tools
• Proficient in a unix shell environment

Bonus Points 

• Experience in writing automation tests
• Experience in risk-based testing
• Experience with messaging platforms such as Kafka
• Experience in containerization such as Docker
