As a Senior Platform Engineer on the Invitae Cloud team, you will build new platform capabilities, support our existing customers, and help set the direction for cloud native technologies at Invitae. Engineers on our platform team come from a variety of backgrounds; including software engineering, DevOps, and site reliability. We are looking for engineers who bias towards automation and systems design with a dash of production support.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, and manage highly available and scalable Kubernetes clusters on [insert cloud provider (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)]
  • Automate deployments and rollbacks using tools like Helm and GitOps workflows
  • Implement monitoring and alerting solutions for the Kubernetes platform
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues related to Kubernetes deployments and infrastructure
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in the Kubernetes ecosystem, including container orchestration tools and best practices
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure a smooth and efficient development lifecycle
  • Contribute to infrastructure as code (IaC) practices and templates
  • Continuously improve the platform by identifying and implementing optimizations

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience working with Kubernetes in a production environment (3+ years)
  • Strong understanding of containerization technologies (Docker, containers)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) is a plus
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (Terraform, Ansible)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana)
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • A passion for learning and staying up-to-date with new technologies

Bonus points for:

  • Experience with Kubernetes security best practices (e.g., RBAC, Pod Security Policies)
  • Experience with service meshes (Istio, Linkerd)
  • Experience with serverless technologies (AWS Lambda)
  • Excellent asynchronous communication skills.  Experience with distributed, remote teams is a plus.
  • A desire to operate with freedom and accountability. A willingness to take risks and ownership of those risks.

This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. California Pay Range

$138,400$173,000 USD
