In order to continuously innovate and deliver our world-class SaaS platform we seek to add a lightweight, innovative Senior Java BigData Engineer that can think outside of the framework, and keeps the customer needs top of mind throughout the development lifecycle.  As the Senior Engineer you will work on a small, agile team developing highly scalable, cloud-based, web and big data applications.  You will have the unique opportunity to build a next generation big data processing platform for processing billions of transactions, doing real-time analytics, and feeding multiple visualization and reporting systems.

Our engineers are actively delivering high quality code, while simultaneously identifying and proposing improvements to internal processes that will result in a stronger product and team.  We don’t take ourselves too seriously and we are able to admit when there’s a better way to do something.  

What responsibilities and technical challenges you can expect in this role:

• Work with large-scale, complex data sets integrated with video
• Develop services, workflow, and persistence solutions that integrate with transactional and big data backend services
• Design and develop easily consumable RESTful APIs with strong documentation and examples
• Understand customer behavior and integrate it into your solutions and automated testing frameworks
• Explore and adopt new technologies, algorithms, strategies
• Provide critical technical support for your solutions
• Contribute in a small, dynamic, collaborative agile environment
• Continuously improve the software development practice
• Develop elastic, cloud-based, web and BigData applications in our technology stack:  Cassandra, Kafka, HTML5/AngularJS, Java, Node, REST, MySQL, RedShift, Docker, Puppet, RedHat, AWS, Jenkins, SFDC

What we are looking for in your background:

• 5+ years experience in full-stack Java, JavaScript, and SQL / stored proc
• A desire to understand the customer and deliver targeted solutions
• A deep understanding HTTP & distributed, RESTful technologies and APIs
• Create clean, efficient, testable solutions
• An affinity for creating highly scalable, elastic systems
• Self motivation and the ability to deliver on commitments with limited supervision
• Experience working in Unix command line environments
• An internal drive to learn and absorb new technologies.
• And if you hold a BS+ in Computer Science that is a plus, but we value relevant work experience just as much
