Job Duties and Responsibilities
DISH Technologies is seeking a Senior Engineer- RF/Wireless who possesses comprehensive knowledge of RF circuit and system design and development and will work as a part of a larger cross-functional team on projects and assignments related to new product development, research, and development into new tools, techniques, and features of existing business areas, and innovating with new and emerging technologies to advance the state of the art in RF/Wireless technology.
Key Responsibilities:

  • RF circuit design from scratch to mass production (component selection, design analysis, simulations, schematic creation, PCB layout, performance tuning and optimization, and design validation testing)
  • Design for a broad palette of wired and wireless protocols and standards including MoCA, DBS, Wi-Fi (802.11), Bluetooth/BLE, and ZigBee/RF4CE (802.15.4)
  • Qualify and validate designs with detailed parametric measurements like transmit power, harmonics, IP3 and P1dB, spurious, SNR, BER, ACPR, noise figure, and S-parameters
  • Antenna design and MIMO performance optimization through 3D EM simulation and analysis
  • System performance level validation in collaboration with cross-functional software and testing teams
  • Documenting designs, test procedures, qualification, and design validation testing (DVT)
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers
  • Provide timely status on progress, priorities, and issues to management
  • Peer review of internal designs


Skills, Experience and Requirements
Experience and/or Education:

  • 7+ years experience in RF and microwave system and circuit design, including RF transmitter, front ends, filter blocks, power and low-noise amplifiers, impedance matching, baluns, and wireless link budget optimization for frequencies ranging from low GHz up to mmWave (60 GHz) or beyond
  • Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering
  • Bachelor's degree holders can be eligible when complemented by substantial commensurate experience


Skills and Qualifications:

  • A comprehensive understanding of, and practical experience with, RF and wireless technologies is required, including circuit and system design and analytical techniques, design validation, and performance verification testing methodologies
  • DVB-S and MoCA front-end circuit design from the tuner through the demodulator
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth/BLE, and 802.15.4 (ZigBee, RF4CE) two-way communication protocol and radio designs
  • Antenna design and placement optimization for Wi-Fi MIMO concept operation
  • RF design simulation tools; 2D/3D EM full-wave, linear/harmonic circuit simulators; ADS, Microwave Office, CST, HFSS
  • RF and microwave test and measurement including vector network analyzers (VNA), spectrum analyzers, signal generators, up-converters, modulators, noise figures, and SNR and BER-type measurements
  • Schematic and PCB layout software and techniques; Siemens EDA/Mentor Graphics, Cadence, Altium
  • RF circuit optimization, debugging, and characterization from component through system-level testing
  • Knowledge of digital and analog modulation techniques
  • Experience creating design documentation including Bill of Materials (BOM), theory of operation, bring-up procedures, part or sub-circuit characterization instructions, PCB fabrication guidance, tuning and optimization guides
  • Experience with automated test environments including LabVIEW, NI Test Stand, and interpreted languages like Python or Javascript


Salary Ranges
Compensation: $125,000.00/Year - $162,500.00/Year

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location. Candidates need to successfully complete a pre-employment screen, which may include a drug test and DMV check.
