Role Purpose 

The Programming Director manages the digital content strategy for our quilting, sewing and embroidery categories. The ideal candidate has deep editorial and/or video programming expertise within this content vertical. You must have a clear point of view about how to build and support a diverse content portfolio and arrange that content for maximum impact, engagement and retention. The Programming Director will manage a team of Content Editors, while collaborating with the Category General Manager, and production team to program and create a range of sewing and quilting content, both video and text-based for the Craftsy site, our YouTube channel and in NBCU TV show integrations. In addition you will work closely with our Fabric eCommerce Lead and Strategic Partnership team to jointly develop and grow the content + commerce offering within this vertical. Your job is to manage and mentor a team to program and execute content to engage our sew/quilt audience across all skill levels. 

Responsibilities 

● Work with a team to program long-form and short-form video content for our sew/quilt/embroidery audience and vertical, designing approaches to maximize video consumption, engagement, retention, and a la carte class revenue 
● Develop strategies and seize opportunities to create crave- and binge-worthy content for our users ranging from deep instructional content to edutainment 
● Collaborate with editors, writers, video producers and directors, marketing, and eCommerce to conceptualize and develop creative assets that support content consumption and engagement 
● Develop talent management strategies, and look for opportunities to develop, leverage and expand our talent poolQualifications/RequirementsBasic Qualifications 
● A record of innovative and bold editorial and/or programming strategy at a media company, network, SVOD provider or subscription website 
● Minimum 3 years' experience acquiring and developing editorial and/or video talent and content 
● Creative thinking and an endlessly curious mind 
● A knowledge of or passion for the quilting and sewing categories 
● Strong and supportive management skills 
● Success working in highly collaborative environments 
● A record of elevating and developing colleagues and direct reports
