By building a network of over 3,000 professional writers, we have the resources for modern businesses and marketing agencies to outsource their blogging needs in spades.

We serve marketing agencies and small/medium-sized businesses all around the world - getting them great blog content every week to help them with their marketing. The company has been in high growth for several years, and looking for talented individuals to help us scale to the next level.

To do all of this, we’ve created a high-performing SaaS startup in Boulder led by a 15-year crowdsourcing industry veteran and staffed by a team of 12 energetic, eclectic (degrees on our team range from classical literature to economics to Latin American history) startup junkies.

Job Description

We’re looking for a resourceful, smart, articulate, and motivated individual to do four things, in this order:

  1. Be our sales guru and BlogMutt evangelist (much of the work is inbound sales, not outbound, though we do want to test some outbound)
  2. Work with our marketing team on assorted projects including creating advertising campaigns, managing our CRM, driving email marketing automation campaigns
  3. Work to retain current customers and help them expand what services they buy each month
  4. Other stuff, TBD. This is a startup - we’re looking for someone hungry to learn and able to shift priorities, be flexible, and potentially rewrite the job description over time

Since a lot of our sales work will be inbound, that means educating, helping, and assisting folks who have digitally raised their hand and indicated an interest in BlogMutt. You’ll assist them via phone, email, live chat, and online demos of BlogMutt’s services.

In addition to inbound sales, you should be great at outreach, lead generation, follow-up, and sales development. You will work closely with our marketing team in the management, tracking, follow-up and closing of all potential accounts and growing existing accounts. 

Primary Responsibilities

Again, these will change over time, but they’re in current priority order.

Sales
  • Tactful prospecting, outreach, follow-up, ongoing communication, management and closing sales-ready leads, interested prospects or customers who have paused or suspended their BlogMutt account.
  • Conduct live webinars and demonstrations showcasing BlogMutt’s platform.
  • Successfully manage, overcome, and document prospects’ objections related to outsourced blogging needs.
  • Find opportunities and creative ways to ensure smoother, more efficient ways to optimize sales.
  • Be comfortable and fully functional in our CRM to track sales activities.
  • Serve as a market expert on blogging and content marketing to better answer potential prospects questions as well as inform prospects about the digital marketing landscape and inbound marketing.
Marketing
  • Identify and explore strategic partnerships and channel sales to accelerate sales.
  • Provide reports to marketing, upper management, and the entire company around sales activity.
  • Assist the marketing team with creation of sales and marketing materials, positioning, contributing blog posts to the BlogMutt blog, and running direct marketing campaigns.
Account Management
  • Be a trusted resource and develop relationships with prospects throughout the sales process and seamlessly transition to serving as account manager for customers.
  • Engage in consultative/educational selling to increase customer walletshare.
  • Identify customer lifecycle trends and build solutions to increase retention.
  • Work with support team solve customer problems.
  • Onboard new clients and set the path for a great client relationship.
  • Go above and beyond for our customers - help them get more than they thought possible from BlogMutt.

Requirements

Ideally you’ll possess inbound marketing and digital marketing agency experience, with an understanding of content marketing. For the right candidate, we will consider entry level, just-out-of-school folks. Exemplary phone etiquette with excellent listening skills. 

Here’s what you’ll ideally possess:

  • At least one year of sales experience preferred, or demonstration of related experience through internships or jobs while in school.
  • A solid understanding of inbound marketing / content marketing / SEO - hopefully you’re reading one or more publications like Moz, HubSpot, Neil Patel, etc.
  • Marketing agency experience is super helpful.
  • Must be comfortable using, managing, working, and mining opportunities within an online CRM system (we use HubSpot, experience with HubSpot is a big plus).
  • Organized and comfortable simultaneously managing email, live chat, prospects’ questions, marketing requests, and phone calls with composure and grit.
  • Comfortable working closely with the marketing team to suggest materials needed to help the sales process, educate prospects, and close customers.
  • Brings a positive, energetic personality and is a welcome addition to the BlogMutt team.
  • Adept at understanding, interpreting, and reporting sales data.
  • An appreciation of great writing. We’re a writing company. We want someone who can write emails and chat messages clearly, concisely, and with a tone that best exemplifies BlogMutt’s personality and approach to business.

We generate sales-ready leads every day. You will be busy. But we are also looking for someone capable of creating opportunities on their own, whether through online or in-person prospecting. 

In short, we need someone who is super-fast at getting tasks done all day long while keeping about 834 other things active while at work.
