 Position: Hadoop/Spark Systems Administrator, Emerging Capabilities

Location: Broomfield, CO

Overview: 
The Emerging Capabilities team is a fast-paced, forward-looking development team focused on investigating and productizing new analytic platforms and capabilities.  We are looking for an experienced Hadoop/Spark Systems Administrator who can build and maintain our development and test infrastructure, support sales initiatives and existing clients, and provide guidance and vision around emerging technologies.  Ideal candidates will be self-motivated and proactive with a fearless predisposition for learning new skills, languages, and platforms. 
 
Responsibilities:
  • Set up and maintain required systems (e.g., Hadoop/Spark clusters) and packages.
  • Tune configurations and provide support and advice to development on best-practices.
  • Provide technical expertise to customer support and sales related activities.
  • Assist with solving technical issues related to customer connectivity to big data platforms.
  • Perform in-depth research into the various infrastructure components of big data platforms to improve our technical competence in these areas.  
  • Provide guidance and vision around supporting existing and emerging technologies.
  • Participate in the architecture, design and implementation of full-stack, big data functionality.
  • Work in a pragmatic, collaborative, and agile environment with other like-minded professionals.
 
Required Skills:
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience designing, planning, provisioning, monitoring, scaling and tuning large distributed systems including Hadoop and Spark clusters.
  • Experience with the Hadoop/Spark ecosystem, including HBASE, HDFS, Hive, Impala, MapReduce, Sqoop, YARN, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Hadoop security systems such as Kerberos, Knox, and Ranger.
  • Strong Linux admin background, including writing and automating shell scripts.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional, regionally distributed team.

  • Constant learner with penchant for adopting new technology, languages and development techniques.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and customer-centric focus.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills.
  • Practical experience in big data analytics or a related field.
