Who we are :: Homebot

Homebot is an exciting, fast-growing start-up in the FinTech, Bot and AI/Data Science space that is revolutionizing how homeowners build wealth with the single largest asset they’ll ever own -- their home. The US homeownership market is the largest asset class in the world at $23 trillion but is essentially an “unmanaged” asset. Homebot is solving this problem with a solution that combines key value for homeowners, lenders and real estate professionals. Homebot participated in the 500 Startups accelerator in San Francisco last year and recently won the “Banking Disrupted First Place” award among a dozen of the hottest fintech startups in the country.

Who are we looking for

You are a person who can drive features forward. You must be comfortable working on projects that require reconciling feedback from multiple stakeholders across the organization. You transcend the left-brained developer stereotype, and incorporate UX understanding into the things you build. Additionally:

  • You’re self-motivated to learn and incorporate new technologies and keep up with best practices.
  • You have the ability to thoroughly, yet simply, explain features to everyday users.
  • You have strong communication skills and are receptive to constructive feedback.
  • You’re comfortable working on your own and are able to set ego aside when collaborating on features.
  • You’re not afraid to ask for help.

Responsibilities

Our immediate needs are primarily focused on back-end development. We prefer to hire generalists and will expand into more full-stack work later this year. Your day-to-day will be working with our team to design a new product API capable of taking our product into its next phase of growth. What this involves is migrating our applications away from Node.JS onto a Rails-based stack and working on a data-ingestion pipeline that consumes public record information for future product features.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of full-stack web development
  • 2+ years of Ruby experience
  • Strong understanding of REST API design and architecture
  • Working knowledge of a JS-based web framework (Ember, Angular, React, etc)

Nice to have:

  • Active participation in open source communities
  • Prior experience working in an Agile environment
  • Prior experience working in an early-stage startup
  • Prior experience with big-data / data visualization

Our Culture

We are a small, fast-growing startup located in the new WeWork on Platte Street. We are a work hard, play hard, no b.s. group of like-minded individuals. We have significant experience and success in building startups-to-exit and a long track record of assembling highly motivated, empowered and productive teams. We get shit done; and we build products that users actually want to use and value. The value we create is real: we build wealth for homeowners.
