EMS Software is looking for a Director of Cloud Ops who will transform our product offering from on-premises to all cloud. You’ll be at the center of a vital growth initiative.

You’ll join a company that serves 2,000 great organizations like Accenture, GlaxoSmithKline, Harvard and Yale. Our customers have millions of people using our software to manage events, reserve space to meet, work and study; and to analyze and optimize their use of real estate.

Your role combines the operational responsibility for cloud ops and security, plus the strategic responsibility for enabling and encouraging our sales and marketing teams to promote our offering to existing and new customers. This is the perfect role for a leader who wants the high visibility of driving revenue growth.

While we’ve traditionally been a Windows shop, we’re pursuing an aggressive program to embrace other modern technologies like React and Go. In addition, we’re primarily on Azure now, but we’ve been experimenting with Google Cloud Platform and will likely expand our efforts to multiple platforms.

Your First Three Months

We’re good at hosting our customers’ applications, but we need to be great. In the first three months as our Director of Cloud Operations & Security, you’re going to be very busy as you:

• Learn our software, our technology, and our customers’ needs
• Understand our current cloud processes and tools
• Create a plan to improve our cloud compliance by reviewing our processes and customer requirements
• Review and respond to hosting requirements from customers and prospects
• Help your team improve their capabilities to deploy new customers and new releases
• Work with development and product management to understand and influence our hosting-related product plans
• Work with sales and marketing to help them overcome any barriers to sales

Essential Responsibilities

• Drive customer satisfaction by providing world-class application availability and protection of customer data
• Direct the team to perform or directly handle system setup, system administration, incident resolution, problem management, configuration management, change management, security monitoring, security management, capacity planning, availability management and disaster recovery
• Establish 24x7 performance monitoring and response processes
• Ensure efficiency and predictability of deployments and upgrades
• Provide on-call support outside of normal work hours and work days
• Hiring, training, directing, and developing the cloud operations team

About You

• 5+ years of cloud operations experience with and strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, or other cloud platforms
• Expertise in cloud security compliance including experience with security audits
• Experience managing networking infrastructure and monitoring
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with both technical and business people in terms they can understand
