Trueffect is hiring for a Database Developer to join our team. In this position you will determine database structural requirements by analyzing client operations, collaborating with the development teams, building data stores, reviewing objectives with the product team and evaluating current systems.

This role is predominately enhancing and building new database solutions driven by our product direction. A smaller percentage of the role will be performing DBA responsibilities to ensure our production environments are optimal and performant.

Responsibilities:

  • You will maintain and evolve a data platform supporting over hundreds of millions of impressions served per day and our data pipeline in AWS and data centers in the US.
  • Develops database solutions by designing proposed system; defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, security, back-up, and recovery specifications.
  • You will develop, integrate and maintain tools that improve reliability, scalability and operational capacity.
  • Work with development teams to harden, enhance, document, establish processes and generally improve the operability and supportability of our database systems.
  • Maintains database performance by identifying and resolving production and application development problems; calculating optimum values for parameters; evaluating, integrating, and installing new releases; completing maintenance; answering user questions.
  • Develop tools to automate the deployment, administration, and monitoring of a large-scale database services in our datacenters and on AWS cloud.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve live production issues by analyzing logs from different sources.
  • Performing hands on technical DBA work including requirements gathering, data/database/ETL architecture analysis/design as part of database administration.
  • Ability to identify and resolve database architecture issues that might impact ability to meet requirements. Define database standards to support multiple RDBMS on various operating systems.
  • Ability to design and engineer high volume, business critical, high availability OLTP and OLAP applications based on Oracle technology.
  • A deep understanding of technical database and development work, the impact of logical design decisions on the technical database and application infrastructures.
  • Willingness to do all levels of work when required in addition to high level, customer facing work. This includes taking on-call support rotation. 

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of commercial experience designing database architectures and highly performant and scalable database solutions.
  • 7+ years with relational databases and 3+ years developing No-SQL database architectures and designs.
  • Operational experience designing indexes for existing applications, choosing when to add or remove indexes.
  • 2+ years of experience using Profiler traces and other tools to find the most frequently run queries
  • You have strong interpersonal & communication skills.
  • 5+ years DBA experience in a 24x7x365 operational environment with contractually defined SLAs
  • Experience with AWS deployments and tools including RDS, certifications preferred.
  • Technical skills in: RDBMS, SQL, PL SQL, XML, Java.
  • Basic understanding of Oracle Fusion Middleware, Weblogic and/or Tomcat; Hands on experience is desired.
  • Basic understanding of Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC); Hands on experience is desired.
  • Strong Technical Experience and substantial understanding of Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN).
  • Basic understanding of real time replication technique such as GoldenGate/Streams/Dataguard. Hands on experience is desired.
  • You have 5+ years of broad DBMS experience with Oracle. These skills include, but are not limited to PL/SQL and performance tuning.
  • You maintain a high degree of expertise in the use of the tools and methodologies of data analysis, database administration, and PL/SQL development and performance analysis and tuning; as well as providing assistance and training in the use of these tools and methodologies.
  • You provide leadership in the areas real-time reporting architecture and design.
  • You must demonstrate the ability to discuss and direct strategic data and business planning issues with executive level clients and customers in order to prepare recommendations concerning effective use of the corporation's valuable information assets.
  • You must maintain a high degree of expertise in the use of the tools and methodologies of data analysis, particularly repository and data modeling; as well as providing technical direction, assistance and training in the use of these tools and methodologies. 
  • You have strong presentation, analytical and diagnostic skills.
  • BA/BS or MS degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
