Role Purpose 

Unique opportunity to develop strategic vision and lead team responsible for “greenfield” growth of Craftsy’s eCommerce Cooking, Baking and Cake Decorating businesses. 

Responsibilities 

• Identify and understand target audience, market trends, and the competitive landscape for our Cooking, Baking and Cake Decorating businesses 
• Develop category plans and a compelling product assortment that will enable rapid growth for our eCommerce business 
• Determine whether in-house product development or vendor procurement is the best approach for assortment given customer needs, strategic objectives and financial goals 
• Build strong relationships with cross functional partners including internal teams such as Marketing, Merchandising and Development and Sourcing teams​ and external Product Suppliers 
• Own and optimize the P&L of the business. Use thoughtful data analysis to measure category and product performance over time and apply key learnings to assortment strategies 
• Guide merchandising and marketing strategies to ensure product stories, key selling points, and differentiators consistently reach the consumer in thoughtful, channel-appropriate ways 
• Provide leadership, clear direction and coaching to ensure ongoing development of team members 
• Be a go-to resource in the company for the category displaying a strong understanding of the consumer, the competitive landscape, and emerging trends

Basic Qualifications 

• 5+ years experience in Buying, ​Planning, Merchandising or Category Strategy, preferably in physical goods for Cooking, Baking or Cake Decorating 
• A clear understanding of financial measurements (sales, gross margin, measures of inventory productivity) and how to impact them

• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to work with individuals at all organizational levels as well as external partners 
• A flexible attitude when confronted with unexpected obstacles in a fast-paced environment
