At Artimus we are developing and manufacturing a new class of soft actuators (or artificial muscles) for a wide variety of industries including automotive, medical, defense, industrial, and other exploratory areas. Instead of the rigid materials typically found in mechanical systems, we are taking a new approach by making electric actuators from a combination of flexible and soft materials. Our core technology, which we call HASEL (pronounced “hazel”) actuators, offers many benefits over traditional actuators. Customers turn to our technology for unique features including compliance, low-weight, non-metal materials, high speed operation, and adaptability. First developed at University of Colorado Boulder, our HASEL actuation technology garnered international attention with coverage in Wired, National Geographic, and a Ted Talk.
