Boulder-based ShipCompliant has combined forces with Boston-based Sovos Compliance.

Sovos is the industry leader in tax compliance, and reporting, which makes this a perfect match as ShipCompliant is the leading compliance and tax solution provider for the beverage alcohol market.

The two companies will integrate their complementary tax compliance solutions to assist businesses navigating the demanding regulatory environment for beverage alcohol registration, tax rate determination, compliance management, and reporting.

Founded in 2000, ShipCompliant provides an integrated SaaS-based platform for wineries, breweries, distilleries, and importers of beverage alcohol products, enabling clients to easily access consumer and wholesale markets throughout the United States.

The company draws upon its robust supply of market data to create the beverage alcohol industry’s well-known annual syndicated study of direct shipping trends. ShipCompliant also hosts educational forums for the industry including its signature annual user’s conference in Napa Valley, California. As recent winners of the Inc. 5000 Fastest-Growing Companies and the Mercury 100 Fastest-Growing Startups awards, ShipCompliant serves thousands of beer, wine, and spirits suppliers with a superior level of customer loyalty as evidenced by an industry-leading Net Promoter Score™.

“ShipCompliant expertly addresses the complex regulatory challenges faced by businesses in the beverage alcohol industry,” said Andy Hovancik, CEO of Sovos Compliance. “We are excited to leverage the tax and compliance research capabilities, deep industry expertise, and acclaimed technology to expand and accelerate our ability to meet the wide-ranging tax and regulatory compliance needs of the market.”

“Compliance with the myriad of regulations in each state is a challenge for companies in the beverage alcohol industry,” said Jason Eckenroth, President of ShipCompliant. “But there is significant growth for those that can master those requirements, as consumers increasingly want to order their favorite brands online. We are excited to combine our technology and industry expertise with the reach and resources of Sovos Compliance to amplify our impact, accelerate our growth and continue to make managing compliance complexity simple for our clients.”

There is no plan to move ShipCompliant out of Boulder. As a matter of fact, ShipCompliant is so invested in the community that has supported their growth that they have elected to share a portion of its sale proceeds with the community. The Entrepreneurs Foundation of Colorado (EFCO) will distribute a generous grant to The Community Foundation Serving Boulder County.

Jason Eckenroth expresses his deep appreciation for the community he has built the business in.

“This is where our employees live and work. We know that offering a high quality of life is key to our ability to attract and retain competitive employees. Our local nonprofits play a big role in driving that quality of life. We’re proud to make this contribution and the impact on our community amplifies our feeling of gratitude."
