As a data engineer with Pie, you will work with our data architect to Pie-oneer our data environment. This individual will be a key member that will work directly data architect to define the future state of our data architecture. This role will work in data architecture, data analytics, ETL development, and data reporting. Success in this position will be establishing how data comes into and flows through the Pie insurance platform. This data will be used to help our organization quote customers based on data on best policy and prices for their workers compensation insurance.

The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for aiding in building the business’ data storage systems and processing pipelines within the primary application stack. The role of the Senior Data Engineer is responsible for verifying code quality, structure and design for teams modifying the data systems, and assisting the Architecture team with produced code and artifacts to verify proofs of concept or deliver application level framework support.  The Senior Data Engineer also supports the DevOps team with various DBA functions including performance tuning on an ad hoc basis for the maintenance of the existing data stack. The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for recommending technology stacks to solve appropriate data storage and processing requirements including assisting the Data Science Engineer with pipeline integration of the data analytics, data lakes and aggregation/analysis tools.

As a member of the Analytics team within the Product organization, you will work alongside the other members of the team on a variety of projects across Tendril. From running established regression models to developing new analytic models, from presenting results to stakeholders to developing automated dashboards to quickly visualize performance metrics, and from testing how products are currently working to conducting controlled A/B tests and external research to understand how to further our products, your work is a critical part of advancing Tendril’s products forward.
