Berkshire Hathaway Direct Insurance Company is the home of biBerk small business insurance. Our claims department is seeking a General Liability Claims Team Lead to oversee claims under THREE Berk’s general liability coverage line involving a variety of claims.

Job Responsibilities

  • Remotely overseeing a team of 5 to 6 adjusters handling both litigated and non-litigated property damage and errors and omissions claims, and non-litigated bodily injury claims.
  • Ensuring appropriate claim handling and decision making
  • Reviewing and editing positional correspondence
  • Administrative responsibilities associated with team management
  • Ensuring direct reports are following in-house processes including but not limited to escalated claim review, settlement authority requests, submissions for legal review, and following company best practices etc…
  • Working with in-house counsel to interpret policy coverages and jurisdictional impact on claims
  • Reviewing large losses and litigated matters with Claims Supervisor and at Roundtable meetings
  • Identifying subrogation potential or fraud alerts and making appropriate referrals
  • Returning adjuster escalated calls from external parties
  • Training new team members
  • Conducting employee performance reviews
  • Continuous coaching and support for direct reports

Qualifications

 We are seeking candidates with the following:

  • Minimum 5 years handling general liability claims
  • Minimum 3 years handling litigated matters
  • Significant supervisory experience is preferred
  • Strong understanding of insurance coverage and policy analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills  
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher required
  • Active adjuster licenses

In accordance with pay transparency laws and regulations, the following good faith compensation range estimate is being provided.  The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $130,000 per year.  Final compensation will be based on candidate qualifications, geographic location, and other considerations permitted by law.
