Leidos has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Systems Engineer to join the Human Health and Performance Contract (HHPC) team in support of an upcoming NASA exploration project. This position is located at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.

This position provides systems engineering as NASA continues to evolve systems for exploration missions, including Gateway, lunar surface, Mars transit, and Mars surface missions. This role works closely within a project engineering team as a systems engineer developing and integrating next generation technology into solutions that will enable astronauts and the program to safely execute missions beyond low earth orbit.

US Citizenship or US Permanent Residency and the ability to successfully obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance are required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Define and manage system requirements, verification and validation activity.
  • Create and deliver systems engineering artifacts such as Concepts of Operations, requirements, traces, allocations.
  • Help define system architecture and system interfaces. Evaluate system characteristics and performance.
  • Support integration efforts and participate in hardware testing.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk and opportunity management. Leverage subject matter experts to execute technical strategy.
  • Work with innovative technology, design and processes developed internally by NASA and externally by leading technology companies. Perform trade studies and execute down select.
  • Ensure compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental Plan and Quality Assurance Plan.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline and 5 + years of experience working on technical projects
  • Demonstrated understanding of systems engineering including: requirements, interfaces, testing, verifications, and integrated performance
  • Experience with complex system development (both hardware and software configuration items)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a teaming environment where collaboration and communication are critical to the functioning of the team
  • Skilled in technical trouble-shooting and problem-solving
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to collaborate with project managers, project leads, customers, and with contract colleagues
  • Customer focused with experience in a customer-facing role
  • Proficiency in MicroSoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Preferred Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with Development Assurance, Certification and Safety Analysis
  • Experience with Cradle, DOORs or similar requirements development software and its application across all elements of systems engineering and artifact linkage
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Prior experience supporting NASA Programs, including familiarity with flight hardware development process

    Pay Range:Pay Range $67,600.00 - $122,200.00
