 Position: Software Architect, Database
Location: Broomfield, CO

Overview:
We are looking for a Database Architect with extensive experience in database/schema design, optimizing database performance, database migration, high availability, database security, and multi-tenancy.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Drive the database design and persistence layer architecture of Alteryx software products and features
  • Design for scalability, resiliency, security, multi-platform, and multi-tenancy
  • Work with developers on database architectures, tuning & coding standards, best practices for SQL development, and quality assurance procedures 
  • Review and optimize database schema designs 
  • Work with DevOps to perform database tuning, partitioning, and performance optimizations 
  • Assume primary responsibility during DB performance problem resolution and other complex database issues (such as blocks, deadlocks, long running queries, etc.); conduct root cause analysis and take corrective action to resolve issues
 
Qualifications:
  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field
  • Extensive and applicable experience as a hands-on architect and/or senior-level engineer
  • Proven success in improving database architecture on desktop, server, and cloud products 
  • Extensive experience with PostgreSQL and other relational databases 
  • Experience in tuning DB instance level parameters and optimizing SQL execution plans to suit the needs of analytical applications
  • Strong skills in communication, critical thinking, decision making, problem solving, and attention to detail
 
Relevant:
  • Knowledge of a broad range of technology solutions and deep understanding of integration best practices
  • Knowledgeable about production database performance monitoring tools
  • Experience with Big Data, Compute Engines, Cloud Platforms & Databases (AWS, RedShift, Azure, HDInsight)
  • Experience with mentoring and developing engineering talent
  • A passion for working with data and analytics, and using them to improve business intelligence and agility
