Astroscale U.S. Inc. is currently seeking a Senior Satellite Operations Engineer to join our team in our Denver, Colorado location. In this role, you will help set up initial operations for Astroscale service missions and operate those missions. You will be integral to developing the on-orbit servicing solutions that will deliver our vision of a sustainable space environment.

Job Description

  • Operate satellite servicers for a variety of unique Rendezvous, Proximity Operations and Docking (RPOD) missions during all mission phases including launch and early orbit, RPOD, service, and disposal.
  • Make real time operational decisions based on input from both internal and external teams and coordinate execution with satellite operation engineers.
  • Lead, oversee and plan rehearsals, continue Mission Operations Center (MOC) development, interface development and control.
  • Develop and execute scripts, checklists, and procedures to align with the mission concept and requirements.
  • Coordinate with the ground system and software team in the development of mission analysis tools and mission operations tools.
  • Lead the planning and design of launch & operations milestone reviews, such as Mission Rehearsals and Operations Readiness Reviews.
  • Evolve mission objectives into system solutions with a focus on satellite ground operations that account for the maturity of the design and available technology.
  • Oversee the efforts in documenting and diagnosing on-orbit anomalies.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of recent hands-on experience in satellite operations engineering, including time spent on console in a satellite mission operations center.
  • Ability to serve in a leadership role in a mission control environment, making data driven decisions in a real-time environment.
  • Experience with systems engineering principles and tools across space and ground systems.
  • Ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately and organize work assignments to meet established timetables.
  • Collaborative communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently, as part of a team, and to provide mentoring across the team in satellite operations.
  • Flexibility to thrive in a dynamic and agile environment, meeting challenges such as balancing the system engineering needs of programs at different stages of maturity and enabling successful remote collaboration with various teams around the world.
  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree or PhD in science, technology, engineering or math, or equivalent experience.

Salary range: $130,000 – $160,000. The salary range represents the low and high end of the Astroscale U.S. Inc. salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, knowledge, and ability as applicable to the role.
