Accounting Operations Department
The Accounting Operations team is responsible for accurately, timely and efficiently executing and recording the organization’s financial transactions with third parties. It is highly engaged in building and maintaining fruitful financial relationships with customers and suppliers across North America through its 3 core groups: accounts payable, billing and accounts receivable and purchasing operations.
The team coordinates the entry, review, and approval of day-to-day transaction processing in accordance with financial policies and the department’s SLAs. Team members proactively engage in solving problems through close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. They engage in the development and implementation of continuous process improvements, maximizing the use of our technology resources to improve accounting operational efficiency. The team is service-oriented and behaves with integrity, agility, respect, and initiative.
Position Overview
This position will be based on-site at our office in Denver, CO. In alignment with our flexible work policy. (3 days on site required, 2 days flexible).
Vantage is looking for a Senior Manager to lead the accounts payable function and team for its rapidly growing North American operations. The Senior Manager, Accounts Payable will be responsible for setting strategic direction of the function, leading a scalable shared-service organization and ensuring operational excellence across the United States and Canada.
The role will oversee a multi-layered team structure and will play a critical role in driving transformation initiatives as the organization continues to scale. IN a high-speed, high-complexity environment, success will depend on foster a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement while elevating the capabilities of the team.
The Senior Manager will establish and mature KPI framework, drive process standardization and ensure best-in-class delivery to both internal stakeholders and external suppliers. Strong cross-functional partnership and the ability to influence at senior levels are essential.
Essential Job Functions
Leads and coaches a team of up to 8 Accounts Payable Specialists covering the United States and Canada
Own and evolve the end-to-end vendor payment lifecycle, compliance, invoice processing, reconciliations and cash disbursements
Define, implement, and monitor KPIs and service level agreements to drive operational performance and transparency
Serve as the strategic leader and ambassador of the AP function across the organization, partnering with Finance, Procurement, Treasury, and business leaders
Drive transformation initiatives, including automation, system enhancements, and process redesign
Lead change management initiatives to support organizational growth and shared services scaling
Duties
Oversee high-volume payment cycles, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and scalability through optimal use of AP tools and systems
Establish governance over invoice processing workflows to ensure data integrity, proper approvals, and compliance
Develop and enforce standardized policies and procedures for invoice handling, coding, and general ledger alignment
Oversee the expense management program, including tools, policies, and employee reimbursements
Ensure compliance with applicable laws, internal policies, SOX requirements (if applicable), and supplier contracts
Drive a customer-centric culture focused on service quality, responsiveness, and continuous improvement
Lead talent strategy for the AP function, including hiring, coaching, succession planning, and performance management
Partner with cross-functional leaders to optimize procure-to-pay (P2P) processes and improve vendor experience
Identify and mitigate risks, including fraud prevention, duplicate payments, and control gaps
Support financial close activities, accruals, and reporting related to accounts payable
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or general management, or equivalent academic credentials
10+ years of progressive experience in Accounts Payable or Finance operations within a large, complex, and fast-growing organization
5+ years of leadership experience managing managers or large, multi-level teams
Language requirements: English, required and French, an asset
Real estate or construction industry experience, preferred but not required
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with many simultaneous priorities from time to time
Proven track record of leading transformation initiatives, including automation and system implementations
Excellent leadership, good coach, good management of priorities, meticulous, team collaborator, great communicator, flexible, good ability to develop the capacities of employees, analytical
Advanced proficiency with ERP and invoicing systems, and with technology in general
Knowledge of Yardi Voyager, preferred but not required
Proficient in the Windows and Office 365 environment
Travel: 10-20% of the time between the Denver and Montreal offices

Additional Details
Salary Range: $140,000-150,000 Base + Bonus (this range is based on Colorado market data and may vary in other locations)

Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including your qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
