Guild is one of Denver’s fastest growing startups - increasing economic mobility for working adults in America and providing education and support to help every student survive and thrive in the economy of tomorrow. Our education benefits platform helps employers offer education as a benefit to their employees, and our network of nonprofit universities and education institutions helps provide every Guild student with the right academic pathway to advance their education and career. In order to achieve our mission to serve 1000s more students and accelerate our growth, we recently raised a $21M Series B round with top tier investors including Bessemer Venture Partners, Redpoint Ventures, Social Capital, Harrison Metal, and Cowboy Ventures. Now, we’re looking to add a University Partnerships Associate to the team.

As the University Partnerships Associate, you will support the growth and development of Guild’s network of university and academic partners. We are looking for a detail-oriented team member with excellent project management skills and an interest in higher education. You will have the opportunity to both research and execute on new opportunities for partners and the business as a whole. You will contribute significantly to a growth stage start-up: your ideas will directly affect programs touching every team within the company. You will grow the impact of Guild’s partner and programs’ effectiveness with Fortune 100 companies and the best innovative education partners in the country. You will help transform higher education services and space to improve educational outcomes and opportunity for millions of working adults.

A day in our open, collaborative workspace will look a little like this:

Market research and analysis:

  • Expanding the Guild university network through research into potential new partners and direct collaboration with Chris Romer, Co-Founder and Vice President of University Partnerships, during the partnership development process
  • Evaluating prospects and sharing recommendations throughout the company
  • Creating materials and collateral for internal and external stakeholders (decks, research, request for qualifications (“RFQs”) from universities & responses)
  • Apprising our company and university partners of important industry trends, student/university feedback, and/or competitors to identify and adopt best practices

Operations:

  • Supporting the launch and operational activities of new and existing university partners
  • Supporting multi-stage cross-functional projects across internal and external stakeholders
  • Maintaining internal billing, payment processing, data tracking and reporting systems

Optimization:

  • Analyzing and compiling data to report key metrics for our Admissions, University Partnership, Business Development, and Client Success teams to pursue and improve opportunities between Guild corporate clients and university partners
  • Working within complex programs and identifying global processes for simplification; creating consistent and optimized practices across all our partners and programs
  • Exercising a growth mindset to continuously push improvement, think creatively, and drive opportunities for improvement and growth within our partnership portfolio

In this role, you’ll bring skills and expand your expertise by:

  • Taking on a cross-functional role that will expose you to the ins and outs of Guild
  • Bringing research, data analysis and project management expertise to complex challenges facing the university network
  • Showing initiative and leadership by solving unique, complex problems across the business
  • Learning about the business development process with public/private deal

You’ll know if you’re successful by:

  • Becoming a higher education expert who understands the ins and outs of the Guild university network
  • Helping to identify and close top universities and learning providers to bring into the Guild network
  • Collaborating with the Business Development and Client Success teams to bring on new business opportunities and build new programs and partnerships
  • Developing analytical insights to improve student acceptance, retention, and completion rates
  • Receiving feedback through our learning-focused twice annual Structured Growth Conversations

You’ll join a team:

  • Of experts with experience in government, higher education, and private sector partnerships
  • Of learners & problem-solvers dedicated to our dual mission of changing education in America while building a successful, high-growth company
  • Committed to building a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment that you’d support every day

What you’ll add to Guild - as an individual and part of the broader team:

  • Passion for higher education and our mission
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple complex, cross-functional projects at the same time
  • Skill as a researcher and an ability to serve as a thought partner with your peers
  • Experience using analytical approaches and tools (especially Excel, PowerPoint, Salesforce, and Looker) to develop, measure and evolve processes
  • Enthusiasm and the ability to thrive in an atmosphere of constant change
  • Ability to execute work based on objectives rather than explicit instructions
  • A proactive, creative problem solving approach
  • Ability to develop strong relationships and communicate effectively while under pressure - balancing confidence, humility, and diplomacy internally and externally
  • A drive to work hard and a plan for how you can refresh and recharge while working in a startup
  • Evidence of your intellectual curiosity in the space - do you blog, tweet, speak or read everything that’s out there - tell us more!
  • Something else? Wonderful, we’re curious to learn more about you!
