Technical Business Development Manager – Boulder

While Payments landscape is undergoing rapid change driven by innovation on technological regulatory side and payments remain very local, one size does not fit all and a perfect payment product is a moving target. We are looking for a self-driven personality who shares our vision to help us build and run our payments operations.

Job Responsibilities

• Managing payments operational flow: Work closely with internal (operations, business development, product, etc.) and external stakeholders (acquirers, banks, card brands) to build, control and sustain the foundations upon which our products are built.
• Optimizing payments processes: Approaching tasks creatively and based on data analyses, you will need to identify opportunities for streamlining our payments processes, reducing costs, while coming up with value based proposals and driving change.
• Running partner meetings: Manage relationships with our external partners on a regular basis, escalating important matters when needed and supporting regular Due Diligence requests, among other operational tasks.
• Coordinating joint-initiatives: Enjoy being a single point of contact for some one-time joint-initiatives with acquiring, card brand and banking partners and coordinate reporting activities.
• Strengthening of our competitive position: Help deliver SumUp’s comprehensive global payments strategy, through your critical thinking skills, by monitoring the implementation of new initiatives, and managing expectations of external partners.

Requirements

• Business or technical educational background – minimum bachelor degree;
• 3 years work experience - ideally in the payments industry 
• You have strong Critical/Analytical thinking as well as communication skills;
• You are a true Microsoft Excel master and fluent in Microsoft PowerPoint;
• Experience in client-facing work environments and coordinating cross-functional projects;
• You are independent and use hands-on approach for problem solving;
• Desire to learn about the payments industry;
• Excellent language skills (verbally and written) in English (other languages are a plus);
• Start-ups thrill you! You’re able to identify yourself with them and you know what awaits you when working for one. Start-up experience a definite plus.
