Staff Sales Engineer

The Staff Sales Engineer will lead our pre-sales interactions with our customers to guide the technical solutions we propose to grow our business. We are looking for the unique individual who can excel as a technical subject matter expert and as a trusted partner and leader with our customers.
Responsibilities
- Manage due diligence, market research and technical elements of new customer acquisition.
- Effectively translate customer statement of needs to a set of offerings that can be delivered by Ursa major products and services
- Deliver impactful technical presentations which position Ursa Major positively for sales conversations.
- Articulate key features and benefits of the Ursa Major product portfolio to a range of customer stakeholders including technical leads, program managers, budget owners and executive leadership.
- Represent Ursa Major at industry events including trade shows, conferences, industry days and other technical venues.
- Craft compelling messaging in technical writing activities including proposals, pitch materials and other sales documents.
- Collaborate closely with program management staff to prepare offerings that are exciting to customers and achievable from a program execution perspective.
- Collect, analyze, and maintain a database of market data to help inform Ursa Major's strategic product roadmap.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a scientific or engineering discipline
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- Experience working in a customer facing role
- Experience in liquid propellant rocket engine manufacturing, design, test, analysis, or integration
- Passion for developing customer relationships
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, startup environment
Desired Experience
- Master's degree in engineering or scientific discipline
- Strong understanding of aerospace industry standards and requirements
- Familiarity with government acquisition processes, cycles and budgetary processes
- Demonstrated success in contract negotiation
- Experience working in a sales environment

Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role, which is $100,000 - $180,000, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
