Job Description

This position is responsible for generating category insights and managing syndicated research across the enterprise. This position manages research partner companies, budget, and new vendors to address specific gaps or unique capabilities. The position is responsible for maximizing the value of the syndicated research investment.

Responsibilities

Requires competency in customer focus, change & innovation, strategic thinking, relationship building & influencing, talent management, results focus and inspirational leadership.

• Manages research partner companies by negotiating contracts at competitive rates, ensuring the quality of standard deliverables, and leveraging vendor analyst’s time towards key business initiatives. Aligning the portfolio of research partners with the highest priority business needs, and acquires new research sources as required. Leverages vendors to scale special research projects to a level matching the aggregate of high priority research needs within the business
• Generates regular relevant category and consumer insights, via synthesis and expansion upon syndicated research and occasional custom research, in order to enhance the value of primary research and equip senior management with the insight necessary for operational agility and sound decision making. Partners with peers on the Consumer and Competitive Insights team to synthesize syndicated research with primary research results in support of enterprise initiatives, training stakeholders on the available syndicated research tools and capabilities
• Serves as strategic partner for individual Marketing teams, providing relevant analysis, information and insight via in-person interaction (one-on-one, small groups, and presenting to 10+ person groups). Serves as subject matter expert and strategic partner with key stakeholders in Product Development, Corporate Strategy, Sales, and Finance on strategic initiatives and tactical needs
• Manages syndicated research procurement and budgeting process
• Identifies and evaluates potential new research partners to balance the portfolio of syndicated resources based on enterprise needs and business priorities
• Educates stakeholders on availability of syndicated research, tools and capabilities

Qualifications

Minimum required

• 6 + years marketing research or competitive intelligence activities
• 6 + years using syndicated research in an analyst, planning, or product management function with demonstrated ability to research specific topics and deliver insights that answer or address specific business or customer questions
• 6 + years managing syndicated research partners
• Thorough knowledge of syndicated research methods, data, and suppliers, and is able to synthesize syndicated research, existing internal research, knowledge of industry trends, etc. in order to create a full picture of the research environment with respect to one particular research initiative
• Knowledge of program control, financial analysis, competitive analysis, and cost accounting, able to visualize the key variables that drive a business case, and able to work cross-functionally with internal partners to build accurate business cases that gain leadership approval and document the expected costs, benefits, and risks or pursuing a new opportunity

• 6 + years direct experience working in one or more of the following industries US wireless (e.g., carrier, OEM, software provider, infrastructure provider, consulting or research firm), consumer electronics or technology
• 4 + years direct interaction with marketing professionals providing information/solutions, working collaboratively

Education
• Master's/Advanced degree. MBA, MS or PhD

Travel requirements
• 15% domestic overnight travel
