A Brief Overview
The Application Architect/Analyst will identify and define software solutions for small applications development projects independently and work under the guidance of Senior Application and Enterprise Architects on larger projects. Individuals in this job work with subject area and project teams to ensure architectural designs are understood and being implemented throughout the project.
What you will do
- Work with business stakeholders to understand and identify the business problem or need.
- Define a technical solution for small- to medium-sized projects.
- Work with senior resources from other teams to: Identify an optimal platform/environment for the solution, Identify an optimal design and implementation of the solution while keeping Service Level Agreements in mind, Identify opportunities for asset reuse, architectural simplification and consistency, Coordinate on technical application strategy.
- Perform a Technical Design Lead role when necessary.
- Provide support to the Subject Area/Project teams, including their developers, to ensure high level design has been followed through implementation.
- Attend technical conferences or educational opportunities to maintain knowledge of industry best practices.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
- Understand and comply with all provisions of the Safety in the Workplace policy.
Minimum Requirements
- Typically requires a bachelor's degree in related field and a minimum of 2 years of related experience.
- A combination of post-high school education, job related certification and related experience equivalent to 5 years may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements
Preferred Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, other technical field, or business preferred
- Experience in software development process (4-7 years preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Sufficient technical knowledge and judgment to be able to identify when other Application Developer(s) or IT Architect(s) need to be pulled in or coordinated with,
- Build familiarity with all major applications and platforms at FirstBank; strong understanding of multiple platforms, applications and interfaces between applications,
- Build a strong understanding of FirstBank’s information architecture,
- Build an in-depth understanding of current business processes, and able to participate in accommodating future business needs,
- Strong process design/re-design skills to participate in business requirements analysis,
- Excellent technical and operational problem solving skills,
- Build an in-depth understanding of FirstBank Software Development Standards and Procedures Manual,
- Working knowledge of information security concepts and techniques,
- Demonstrated ability to interface and collaborate with SMEs, business sponsors, vendor partners, peers, developers and technical management to develop solutions that will meet the needs for those interested in the outcome,
- Strong verbal and written communication skills,
- Good listening skills,
- Ability to lead technical groups
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Frequently remains stationary throughout a typical business day
- Frequently operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
- Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, and other rooms
- Occasionally positions self to access drawers and shelves of various heights
- Frequently reaches for and handles paperwork and files
- Constantly communicates with customers, coworkers, and management in-person and on the phone
- Must be able to exchange accurate information
