The Sales Executive has responsibility for a defined territory and covers both renewals and new business in that area. He/she handles advertising and sponsorship sales to key accounts for the company and is tasked with growing these accounts through up selling and excellent account management. The Sales Executive is also responsible for soliciting and sharing feedback from the market which will help the Director to develop the portfolio of marketing services offered.
Core Responsibilities

  • Responsible for selling marketing services for IHS Markit/JOC Events, The Journal of Commerce, and JOC.com. Marketing services include: Event Sponsorships, Print Advertising, Online Advertising, Lead Generation Programs, Special Supplements, Custom Events, Custom Special Editions, etc.
  • Responsible for generating new business and upselling and renewing existing business to achieve overall revenue growth for the company.
  • Develop/Implement a clear strategy to exceed quota.
  • Achieve specific monthly, quarterly and annual sales quota.
  • Prepare and submit accurate monthly/quarterly sales reporting and forecasting.
  • Travel into territory to visit clients and prospects on a consistent basis.
  • Generate new business in assigned territories by researching competitive supply chain transportation publications and events and personally qualifying leads.
  • Consult with customers to maximize value and thereby improve customer satisfaction
  • By attending events and meeting with customers, will help to boost IHS Markit/JOC product awareness
  • Working with the events teams, will ensure that the advertising and sponsorships sold are fulfilled correctly
  • Attending trade shows, conferences and seminars, as applicable, for the purpose of representing IHS Markit/JOC and making industry contacts and soliciting media solutions sales leads.
  • Provide all contracts in a timely manner and follow up with customers if additional information is needed for execution of contracts.
  • Needs to follow up on inbound leads within 48 hours.
  • Provides excellent customer service to existing and potential advertisers and sponsors on questions that may arise and makes sure any questions for operations/production team are transferred in a timely manner.
  • Actively participates in the Marketing Services sales meeting led by the Director to update the team on progress.
  • Needs to enter all proposals and orders into SalesForce on a daily basis to show booked orders and an updated pipeline reports for all products.
  • Update accounts daily in SalesForce with email/phone conversation notes and current contact.


Key attributes of the person for this role:

  • Bachelor's degree desirable or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Excellent communication, organizational, negotiation, and closing skills with a strategic and consultative approach.
  • 7+ years in a commercial role, handling major strategic accounts within the maritime/supply chain transportation industry.
  • Min 3 years' experience preferred of managing end to end sales new and renewal.
  • Demonstrated success in closing large and complex sales, involving multiple stakeholders alongside negotiation and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to consult with customers to assess marketing needs and provide proposals which provide clear ROI for marketing spend.
  • Proficiency with all aspects of products and services, including descriptions, pricing and benefits.
  • High energy, self-motivated, able to work as part of a team.
  • Take responsibility for own work, are proactive and not afraid to take on new challenges.
  • Must be proficient in Salesforce, Teams, Excel, Google Apps, and able to quickly learn new technologies.

  • For work locations in the state of Colorado, the anticipated minimum base salary for this role would be $59,119. Compensation will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the applicant.
