Sales Engineer
Wowza Media Systems is seeking a highly skilled Sales Engineer to share responsibility for selling services and retaining revenue by providing technical sales support to assigned accounts. The Sales Engineer interacts with customers to execute the technical aspects of the sales strategy by developing appropriate solutions and building technical relationships to influence positive outcomes. We are looking for someone who is able to translate ambiguous customer needs into deliverable requirements and solutions to help qualify and quantify opportunities. The Sales Engineer resolves technical issues arising during the sales engagement, helps clients define specifications and requirements, develops solutions, and provides technology presentations to both technical and management-level audiences.
Essential Duties:
- Customer Meetings and Meeting Preparation: Attends customer meetings in person and via the phone. Prepares moderately complex level technical proposals and presentations. Provides scope responses to product and industry questions. Demonstrates proficient solution selling abilities and pro-active customer communications.
- Customer Solution Development: Analyzes customers business needs and develops intermediate range strategies based on knowledge of customer’s current communication network, equipment, and business on how company can competitively meet customer’s needs. Independently completes moderately difficult custom designs. Creates and delivers demos and POCs proactively as persuasive tools to move opportunities forward.
- Internal and External Training: Advises customers and sales on technical aspects of company products including fit to customer’s needs, features, availability, etc.
- Customer Advocate: acts as customer advocate as necessary for pre-sales activities and minimal post-sales activities.
- Process Improvement: Utilizes expertise developed in executing the above duties to help streamline and improve Sales and SE processes. Monitors and reports key metrics to drive improvement. Outlines changes needed to the process, products, and pricing based on customer feedback and opportunity analysis.
Experience we’d love you to have:
- Communication: Good written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to understand customer requirements and gain consensus on these requirements. Ability to translate ambiguous customer needs into specific, deliverable requirements. Able to develop relationships and communicate with high level customer technical staff.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of Streaming applications, Content Distribution, Security Solutions, and the technical terminology related to products and services. Experience with sales cycles, qualification and the solution selling process.
- Good presentation skills: Strong executive presence when delivering demos, testimonials and other proof points.
- Problem Solving: Advanced analytical skills. Must be able to work through complex issues with a methodical approach.
- Work Style: Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to work with tight deadlines. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Must be detail oriented.
- Computer Skills: Ability to quickly gain expertise in company solutions and industry. Skilled in tools to create architecture and workflow diagrams as well as full system demos.
- Business Acumen: Must have or develop a keen understanding of the buyer’s journey and how to influence the technical buyers. Must have working understanding of opportunity financial measures including margins, COGS and impacts of multi-year commitments.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary: $100,000 - $120,000

The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of our salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies. The salary is one component of our total compensation package for employees.
