Pie Insurance is an insurtech company tackling meaningful problems. At Pie, we work with small businesses using technology and innovation to improve how they access insurance. Like our small business clients, we are a diverse team of builders, dreamers, and entrepreneurs. So, at the heart of every decision we make is the idea that if it doesn’t serve our clients, it doesn’t serve us.

Today, all Pie-oneers are working remotely and will continue to do so until it is safe to return to the office. As a remote team member, you will be expected to be available for meetings with team members in other time zones and have access to reliable, high-speed internet.

This role will work in our Denver office once our office re-opens.

How You’ll Do It

The Sales Development role is a critical entry level sales position where you will be performing outreach to cold prospects. The right candidate will be one who works well under pressure, thinks out-of-the-box, easily initiates informative two-way phone conversations with prospects, and is highly self-motivated. SDRs will work with Licensed Agents to produce opportunity pipeline and qualified meetings. In this role, you will learn the skill set needed to transition into a Licensed Agent.

  • You will engage and qualify leads from our lead database (cold calling and outbound calling to warm-leads) via outbound call and email activity, setting appointments, and maintaining our lead and prospect systems.
  • You will take inbound calls from warm leads, prospects who want to talk to us.
  • Educate prospects on Pie Insurance.
  • Set hard appointments for the Licensed Agent to follow up and gain the business.
  • Pre-assess risk by researching prospects' online presence and public information.
  • Manage and maintain your pipeline.

  • Continuous education to increase industry knowledge.
  • Further qualify prospects through a series of questions to understand their business needs.

What You’ll Need

  • 1 year of experience in sales or a customer facing phone based role, or applicable experience is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Exhibits professionalism and is responsible for completing tasks without being told what to do
  • Brings new ideas to the company
  • Drive, Grit, Team Oriented: strong desire to compete and win
