Job Summary

NetApp has made a ‘big bet’ on providing data management solutions through public cloud providers. Our growing Cloud Data Services team is looking to bring in a talented technical leader who is motivated to make a difference to our company’s success with Microsoft Azure.

This next hire will be based in the USA.  As a Solutions Engineering Manager – you will be part of the NetApp Cloud Data Services Sales team. You are responsible for directing all aspects of the Solution Engineering organization for your assigned Region including pre-sales and partner alignment activities.  Much of the engagement will be done hand-in-hand with the Microsoft teams, where we are providing the technical expertise on cloud services offered by NetApp and Azure (specifically Azure NetApp Files).  Your team will be responsible for pre-sales activities, working to identify candidate workloads, architect appropriate solutions, design and run proof-of-concepts and onboard customers into active consumption. The focus geography for the role will be <insert location>, but there will be some activity outside of that area.

Job Requirements

What you can bring to the table and our expectations:

• Strong verbal and written communications skills, including presentation skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively with employees within department and across functions.

• Must have an aptitude for understanding how technology products and solutions solve business problems.

• Provide management oversight to Solutions Engineers and for growth and development of the function including selecting, hiring and developing results-oriented professional employees.  

• The scope of responsibility for this person includes implementing strategic policies and establishing and adhering to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements.

• This individual manages the coordination of activities for a specific geographic region or territory, with full responsibility for oversight in terms of costs, methods and staffing.

• Ability to act as a technical advisor or subject matter expert on public cloud technologies a plus

• Sets team revenue targets and ensures targets are met.

• This individual must effectively work with, and influences senior managers through executive level employees, functional peers and/or major customers.

• The interactions of this individual require strong people skills, such as negotiating with customers or management, or influence senior level leaders regarding matters on an organizational level. 

• Acts in a leadership role within the function and across functions.

• Receives Senior Management review of objectives to determine success.

• Is willing to travel – this is an international manager role and will require substantial travel within the USA and, occasionally, internationally.

Education

Education

•    A minimum of 8+ years of experience with 3 years as a people mgr.

•    A Bachelor of Arts of Sciences Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science; or related field is required; a Graduate Degree is preferred. 

•    Experience which demonstrates a significant level of expertise in technical specifications required to sell NetApp products and services is required.

•    Specialized knowledge of public cloud technologies and architectures (Azure a plus)
