Invitae is a rapidly growing medical genetics company whose mission is to bring comprehensive genetic information into mainstream medicine to improve the quality of healthcare for billions of people. To support this growth, Invitae is looking to add a biopharma business development role to join our commercial partnerships team.  This team member will be responsible for establishing and growing relationships with senior executives at biopharmaceutical companies across rare disease, oncology and other genetic disorders.  The role will provide strategic guidance on the growth trajectory of the commercial partnerships team and will play a key part in defining Invitae’s offering to biopharma clients.        

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Support Business Development team with operational tasks related to landscape assessments, market development, leads prospecting and data analysis
  • Build processes for business development tasks, including optimizing CRM system, manage contracting pipeline and partner engagement coordination
  • Build customized presentations for biopharma partnerships meetings by leveraging our business development template pitch deck
  • Run, compile and analyze internal data reports from current programs to provide insights to Business Development team on areas to target
  • Monitor lead generation tools and external channels to provide insights from biopharma industry for prospective biopharma partnership opportunities
  • Navigate public databases such as clinicatrials.gov to link biopharma clinical trials with the diseases commonly identified by Invitae’s sponsored testing programs and overall genetic testing
  • Support Business Development team in partner meetings to generate insights and action items for internal and external follow up
  • Coordinating with our implementation team on the execution of projects

EXPERIENCE AND CHARACTERISTICS 

  • 3+ years of experience in relevant business development and commercial support roles in organizations selling directly to biopharmaceutical companies, including within diagnostics companies, clinical research organizations (CROs), and data providers
  • Demonstrated track record of supporting and managing relationships with senior biopharma executives
  • Project management and analytical skills with the ability to follow complicated concepts and provide structure to continuous business development discussions
  • Fantastic team member who thrives in collaborative team settings
  • Experience in molecular diagnostics, genetics, rare disease, and oncology is preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of the biopharmaceutical industry is preferred
  • Experience with end to end business development cycle
  • Highly motivated individual with an ability to thrive in ambiguous and dynamic environments
