How you’ll make an impact

Xero’s ecosystem is a key strategic asset to Xero, and one of the largest marketplaces for business apps in the world, connecting millions of small business customers and their advisors to more than 1000 app partners, banks and financial institutions as well as 60,000 active developers that build value-added integrations to the Xero platform.

As a technical evangelist you’ll work closely with our finserv, partnerships and regional sales teams to develop new partnerships opportunities, working with the partner to define the integration proposition and design in order to maximize the partnership opportunity and ensure Xero’s interests and goals are met. You’ll build strong relationships and credibility with the partners to understand their roadmap, API usage and needs, so you can provide proactive advice to them about their Xero integration.

This is a big role and requires a broad set of skills including a strong technical background, the ability to think strategically about business, product and technical/design challenges, commercialization and the confidence to communicate with developers, decision makers and larger audiences. You’ll enjoy creating technical content and have experience sharing your ideas through case studies, white papers, blogs and presentations. A willingness and ability to travel is a must.

What you'll do

  • Work with key sales and partnership stakeholders at Xero on product strategy to ensure a consistent global approach which supports regional strategic objectives and initiatives
  • Collaborate with sales and partnership teams to identify and develop new partnership opportunities
  • Engage directly with senior tech leads in partnership to discover, develop new opportunities and open doors
  • Use your technical and industry experience to define integration standards and work with partners to validate and enhance their solution design to ensure a best in class integration.
  • Be the voice of the partner internally, advocating for their needs to internal product teams
  • Develop and deliver compelling presentations, blogs, white papers and case studies that create discussions to drive awareness and adoption of the Xero developer platform

Success looks like

  • Building strong relationships across Xero including our ecosystem, finserv, strategic partnerships and regional sales teams.
  • Raising the profile of the Xero API and ecosystem to facilitate Xero being the first choice for accounting integrations
  • Providing the support required for Xero to execute partnership opportunities through presales and consulting, whilst also proactively evangelizing the Xero API and Partner Programme through speaking at events and creating content
  • Upholding high standards both in integration design and what is ultimately delivered to customers
  • Gaining industry recognition and credibility in your own right as a regular attendee, panelist and speaker at Xero and other industry events

What you’ll bring with you: Critical Competencies

  • Strategic thinker able to identify new revenue or market opportunities
  • Effective at building relationships and influencing stakeholders
  • Ability to discuss technical topics at a range of levels and convey complexity in a clear and concise way
  • Passion for inspiring developers through creative code and content
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills
  • Confident in conversations about APIs, accounting and driving commercial success
  • Organized and capable of handling multiple projects at once
  • Results driven, self motivated
  • GSD and resilient attitude

What you’ll bring with you: Experience

  • Tertiary qualification and 5+ years relevant technical experience
  • Preferred industry experience with enterprise level companies or financial services
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages: C#, Java, Ruby, Python, PHP, Objective-C, Swi or JavaScript
  • Experience building apps with developer tools, SDKs and APIs
  • Proven experience in the creation and development of technical strategy
  • Experience in defining and designing software solutions and/or integrations
  • Experience in startup, cloud, technology or SaaS industry preferred
  • Experience working cross functionally in teams spanning departments or geographies preferred

Through her ERG involvement, Rowe has gained a greater understanding of her peers’ diverse life experiences and skill sets while fostering dialogue related to topics that are often avoided in the workplace, such as women’s health. “It’s been a great way to help other women grow their careers and create a safe space for hard conversations,” she said.

She’s currently helping plan an event that will enable Indigenous people to share their unique stories with others in the company.
