Strategic Sourcing Consultant - Remote
What you will be doing:
As a Strategic Sourcing Consultant, you will be responsible for leading strategic sourcing initiatives at Lumere’s health system clients. With the help of Lumere’s analytics solutions and subject matter experts, you will apply your expertise in physician preference item (PPI) sourcing and project management to help health systems to reduce unwarranted variation and unnecessary costs in medical device purchasing.
The successful candidate is a collaborative, energetic problem solver with a passion for transforming healthcare. They should have a successful track record of leading medical device utilization and cost-reduction projects in a hospital supply chain setting, with a focus on driving both business impact and stakeholder satisfaction.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage multiple concurrent consulting engagements focused on using evidence-based strategies to significantly reduce cost and unwarranted variation in physician preference item (PPI) use; includes:
- Apply expertise in PPI sourcing practices to prioritize spend categories, develop evidence-based savings strategies, and develop vendor award scenarios to generate significant cost savings for our clients
- Understand client current state strategic sourcing processes and recommend best practices
- Manage workplan and development of high-quality client deliverables
- Lead client discussions and meetings to present analysis and facilitate client decision making
- Build relationships with senior clients (VPs, department leaders, physician leaders) by presenting and discussing industry trends, best in class strategies, and gaining buy in for work
- Collaborate with Lumere colleagues (sourcing experts, device research experts, analysts) to ensure clients are successful in achieving cost saving goals, influencing resourcing as appropriate
- Actively troubleshoot and solve challenges that arise during engagements
- Hold client stakeholders accountable for expected engagement contributions while maintaining high client satisfaction
- Ensure clients hit or exceed their savings goals
- Shape Lumere’s consulting engagement model by developing high impact processes and reusable tools
- As needed, serve as a liaison to Lumere’s sales, marketing, and product teams to represent our clients’ needs and the value Lumere delivers
- Serve as a positive, energetic role model for fellow colleagues by demonstrating and celebrating Lumere’s impact and values
Qualifications:
- At least 7 years' experience as a hospital strategic sourcing leader, with expertise in market-leading best practices
- Preference for at least 2 years' experience as an external consultant to hospital supply chain teams
- Track record of leading complex medical device utilization and cost-reduction initiatives with successful stakeholder engagement and business outcomes
- Preference for experience in managing risk-sharing arrangements
- Obsessed about impact -- ability to quickly identify underlying drivers of problems, quickly develop hypotheses, and execute on a path to solve
- Ability to effectively influence and communicate complicated ideas to senior leaders in health system, especially physician and other clinical leadership
- Strong organization and collaboration skills; ability to manage multiple initiatives
- Strong customer service focus to enhance satisfaction, demonstrate judgment, tact and diplomacy in dealing with internal and external stakeholders
- “One team” mentality -- excited to work in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, learning-focused organization
- Bachelor’s degree; science or healthcare focus preferred
- Ability to travel to client sites as necessary (approximately 60% travel)
