The MCS Release Train Engineer (RTE) is the “Chief or Sr. Scrum Master” for the MCS development scrum teams. This role will assist the Agile Manager and Product Owners to plan, monitor, remove obstacles, manage dependencies and deliver software capabilities to the enterprise according to the established priorities, necessary schedule and resource allocations. This position will report to the Agile Manager. This role also interfaces and supports Program and Initiative managers that sponsor the development and may take on internal project execution responsibilities.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the release train POC for work being planned and in flight at the capability and initiative level.
  • In partnership with Agile Managers and POs, owns train execution and delivery of work (schedule/quality), feature completion against commitments-milestones, issues, risks, and metrics.
  • Owns release planning readiness activities/data (i.e. collecting team capacity statistics, exceptional event [go-live within and external to train] support, enterprise planning ramp).
  • Owns the facilitation of release planning events (i.e. internal train readout), in coordination with the Chief Product Owner.
  • Owns the facilitation of the release train Product Council.
  • Participates in enterprise cross-train portfolio coordination meeting (includes external dependencies, risk, impacts).
  • Owns the escalation and coordination of remediation of train impediments.
  • Ensure that train adheres to Enterprise planning and tracking practices (i.e. Consistent updates in Enterprise tool for work documentation, etc.).
  • Serves as assistant and backup for the Agile Manager.
  • Acts as internal project lead as needed to execute on train level project needs.

 

 

 

 

Basic Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional experience in a software development organization.
  • 5+ years focused on agile roles and/or directly supporting implementation/program management activities including software engineering resource estimation/planning.
  • 5+ years of hands on software development including team lead.
  • Ability to obtain US Government security clearance.
