Position: Scrum Master

Location: Broomfield, CO

Overview:

The Scrum Master’s mission is to develop high functioning, super-efficient, self-organizing teams who consistently deliver software of the highest caliber. They should have a broad understanding of software development processes and real-world experience with Scrum, Kanban and SAFe. They should be skilled in professional facilitation standards and methods; and comfortable and engaging when leading big room events such as Demos, PI Planning and PI Retros. The ideal candidate enjoys being “in the room” directly engaged with, and supporting, their development teams as well as collaborating with their colleagues on the Agile Team. They have a passion for continuous, metrics-driven improvement, and an affinity for life-long learning. 

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Supporting 2-3 Scrum or Kanban teams of various agile maturity levels. 
  • Driving delivery through lightweight processes, attention to performance and coordinating efforts across the organization.
  • Ensuring that all work is visible to the teams, accurately tracked in our workflow management tool (CA Agile), and regularly prioritized.
  • Ensuring the teams spot bottlenecks and works through them, establish and adheres to their team agreements, and are aware of their own performance metrics.
  • Skillfully facilitating team-level agile ceremonies (planning meetings, backlog refinement, retrospectives, sprint demos, working sessions, etc.).
  • Assisting in facilitating large-scale, program-level meetings level events such as Demo, PI Planning and PI Retros.
  • Ensuring cross-team coordination via dependency tracking.
  • Acting as a subject expert in a variety of Agile frameworks, applications and best practices. 
  • Actively engage with, and contribute to, the Agile Team consisting of other Scrum Masters/Agile Coaches to develop and implement program level initiatives and form a community of practice.
  • Model leadership within the organization and act as a change agent when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience as a Scrum Master.
  • Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or PMI Agile Certified Professional.
  • Strong coaching skills such as:
    • An ability to read a room, sense the unspoken and help to resolve conflict.
    • Good judgement in deciding when, and when not, to step in and offer observations, guidance or corrections.
    • Experience in expectation management and soft influence.
    • Proven ability to collaborate across various groups, build relationships and manage effectively in a matrix organization.
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Experience leading a big-room events like Demo, Planning or PI Retros a plus.
  • Deep knowledge of Agile values and principles, Kanban and Scrum process/practices.
  • Familiarity with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) is a plus
  • 4-year degree (Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration or related functional field) and/or equivalent combination of education or work experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
