Job Description

The Professional Services Center of Excellence has an exciting opportunity.  We are creating a new Release Manager position that will be responsible for representing Professional Services throughout the product release launch process. 

This role will interact directly with Product Management, Product Development, Sales, Training and Support teams and play an integral part in assuring the Professional Services organization is prepared to implement all facets of Vertafore product releases.  This role will report directly to the Professional Services Center of Excellence Director and will be on the leading edge of preparing the PS teams to bringing high quality, market changing products to the insurance industry.

·        Lead release coordination activities from a Professional Services (PS) perspective to insure the respective internal PS teams are prepared to support each software release.

·        Create and monitor adherence to the acceptance criteria of products by the entire PS organization.  This will involve the creation of templates, dashboards and other documentation that will allow PS to monitor New Product Releases and Deployment plans. Specifically this plan will include guidance on stakeholders and their roles and accountability, communication planning, change management guidelines, tasks, dependencies and requirements for all PS teams. 

·        Work closely with Product Development and Product Management for ALL aspects of project communication and coordinate Professional Services involvement to continuously move upstream in the product cycle and at minimum become involved as a new product moves to the requirements phase. For example, coordination of SME involvement during the initial development and conceptualization of the product so that customer impact and PS issues are unearthed early.

·        Coordinate all aspects of communication to the PS organization at ALL Levels including leadership updates (weekly or bi-weekly), Management updates at manager meetings and ad hoc, and rep based updates.  This will all be outlined through the communication and change management plans. 

·        Partner with Product Management, Marketing, Support, Sales, Product Development, HR and all PS practice teams (resources) to determine impacts of business initiatives to immediate, mid, and long-term.

·        Escalate issues that will impact Professional Services to Sr. PS leadership at the right time depending on the level of impact, time till impact, and consequences to customers while participating in issue mitigation.

·        Collaborate with Professional Services leadership to identify high-impact improvement plans for effective and sustainable cost savings.

·        Define project scope, goals, deliverables, project tasks, timeline, and resource requirements for new products using the template plans developed. 

·        Track release or other project deliverables from a PS perspective using appropriate tools and report on progress of projects to all stakeholders.

·        Manage multiple simultaneous releases in following an established release launch

·        Ensure release plans are developed and conduct release plans reviews

·        Actively participate in all software lifecycle activities including ideation, design, development and release phases through the Release Launch Process model

·        Identify and manage interdependencies as they relate to releases within the PS organization

 

 

 

Skills & Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 3 years proven experience successfully managing multiple projects involving cross-functional teams
  • Release manager role, program manager role and related release management responsibility in a software environment a plus
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to build and manage strong and effective relationships in a matrixed environment
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively, including planning, organizing, prioritizing and attention to detail
  • Great presentation skills
  • Great people skills
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrated success as a self-starter
  • Proven experience in Microsoft Office products (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Proven experience in Sharepoint, Wiki or other collaboration platforms
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
