BIOPHARMA PARTNERSHIPS – PROGRAM MANAGEMENT TEAM LEAD

Invitae is a rapidly growing genetic information company driven by the mission to expand access to comprehensive genetic information to improve the quality of healthcare for billions of people. To support the growth of our Biopharma and Data Platforms teams, Invitae is looking to add an experienced program management team leader to join our partnerships team. The role will lead the Data Platform division of the team focused on delivering real world datasets to our biopharma partners for use cases including real world evidence and clinical trial matching.  Invitae has over 90 programs with biopharma partners and we’re aiming to continue expanding. The role will oversee a team of program managers responsible for implementing new contracts, building relationships with our clients, and coordinating internal resources to deliver on our partnerships. Clients may include third party data partners, pharmaceutical companies, biotech firms, and patient advocacy organizations. 


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Leading a growing team of program managers responsible for the successful implementation of our contracts with biopharma, third party data, and advocacy clients
  • Building, maintaining, and evolving external relationships with clients and serving as an escalation point for clients when needed
  • Setting team KPIs and tracking performance and progress toward project deliverables
  • Managing capacity, workload, and team planning for team of program managers
  • Collaborating with other team leads to develop and improve cross-functional processes and communication
  • Coordinating with Invitae’s development team to translate client requests into development activities
  • Supporting program managers in identifying and coordinating appropriate internal resources across engineering, clinical and scientific, and operations teams at Invitae to ensure they are set up for successful program execution
  • Drafting new and improving existing standard operating procedures (SOPs) as team processes evolve
  • Partnering with Invitae’s finance team on processes for budgeting, invoicing, and monthly close
  • Deepening client relationships with senior members of partner organizations
  • Building the procedures and infrastructure to support scalable growth of the program management team
  • Identifying unmet needs among existing partners and generating ideas for product development priorities
  • Serving as a cross-functional stakeholder to teams across the company critical to program execution

EXPERIENCE AND CHARACTERISTICS

  • 10+ years of experience in relevant program management roles in biotech/biopharma or data analytics
  • Proven experience building and scaling high-performance teams in a fast-growing environment
  • Experience setting team KPIs and leading a team in tracking performance and progress toward those goals
  • Detail-oriented and attentive, a self-starter with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Experience establishing new processes from the ground up and executing against organizational goals
  • Strong customer-focused orientation and exceptional judgement to ensure diverse client needs are addressed amidst an unstructured environment
  • Experience developing project management standard operating procedures and best practices to ensure consistency across the team
  • Experience utilizing standard program management tools, such as Smartsheets and Jira
  • Experience identifying operational efficiencies to streamline workflows across functional units
  • Analytical mindset with experience in data analysis, reporting, and identifying the “so what” behind the data
  • Experience manipulating data in Excel and/or Tableau/Looker and an aptitude for learning new software tools
  • Curiosity for working on a diverse set of partner and program types
  • Prior experience in the healthcare industry is a plus
  • Highly motivated individual with an ability to thrive in an unstructured, dynamic environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Domain knowledge in clinical genetics/genomics is a plus

Location – can be anywhere in the U.S. or Canada
