Job Summary

Chief Technologist, Virtualization and Enterprise Applications

As customers consolidate infrastructure and create scalable environments to run new and traditional applications in virtualized and hybrid cloud environments it becomes increasingly important to fully understand customer needs and ensure that we present our offerings in a clear and differentiated way. 
In this role the Lead Technologist understands the needs of Architects and Application Owners that are tasked with consolidating these business-critical applications using virtualization today, often as one of the first steps towards embracing hybrid cloud and modern cloud-native technologies.
The Lead Technologist has unique insight into how target audiences use technology to perform their tasks and how NetApp Products, Solutions, and Services support our customers. As a Lead Technologist you articulate customer needs to NetApp marketing, sales, product management, and engineering resources and in turn articulate the value of our solutions to our target audiences.
This person will create impactful content such as customer presentations, blogs, whitepapers, etc that is customized to our target audiences. This role supports sales enablement efforts to help NetApp field teams and partners get comfortable & confident in working with these influencers and buyers. You will work directly with customers and partners & speak at industry events as needed and will be seen as a leading evangelist for the relevant products, solutions, and integrations across the portfolio. Presence on social media and engagement in relevant communities is expected.

 

Job Requirements

- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

- Strong analytical skills and ability to work both independently and on cross functional teams.

- Ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization, including remote areas

- Marketing experience in the technology industry.

-Ability to function well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with competing priorities

- Strong understanding of NetApp's products and services technologies/concepts in a distributed environment.Responsibility and Interaction:Responsibility:

- The tasks this individual is responsible for are often unstructured, have wide implications and there are multiple outcomes

- This individual will apply broad expertise or unique technical/industry knowledge in solving problems that are unique and extremely complex given time, budget and resource constraints

- Demonstrate leadership and vision in determining and driving strategy decisions. Interaction

- This individual must work effectively with Staff to Vice President level employees within the function, across functions and with external parties.

-Limited supervision is provided, as this individual can operate, drive results, and set priorities independently

 -The ideal candidate will be a proactive contributor and subject matter expert.

-To be successful, this individual must demonstrate favorable results through leadership and influencing multiple individuals and groups

Often acts as mentor or facilitator.

Education

Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years experience; or equivalent experience.
