Position Title

IT Business Analyst – Oil and Gas

Position Summary

KG Lewis is seeking an IT Business Analyst to serve as the primary liaison between operational and field personnel from business, IT team members, and third-party vendors. This position is responsible for business analysis, change management, vendor management, and general support of assigned applications. Other areas of focus include leading continuous improvement efforts and project involvement. The IT Business Analyst will gather and compile user requirements to understand the technology solutions needed. The Analyst will also apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help the business make good technology decisions. The Analyst will be proactive about working and looking for new technologies to optimize business processes. The Analyst will play a pivotal role in ensuring IT’s understanding of business requirements. They will be instrumental in developing and strengthening relationships.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide primary functional and technical support for an assigned portfolio of applications
  • Elicit requirements through meetings, process descriptions, business scenarios, business analysis, etc.
  • Interpret end-user business requirements to develop and/or modify technical design specifications for off-the-shelf and/or custom-developed applications
  • Evaluate and build recommendations and business cases to address business needs
  • Develop functional and technical documentation, including end-to-end business process maps, use cases and use case diagrams, data flow diagrams, and architectural diagrams
  • Identify and document system configuration/custom solution requirements and technical specifications
  • Facilitate ongoing communication, collaboration, training, and other change management activities across the business community as well as within IT department
  • Develop and conduct training sessions with end users
  • Build testing plans and facilitate end user testing

Required Experience:

  • B.A./B.S. in Computer Science or related field, or an equivalent in education and experience
  • Ability to operate autonomously and to engage as a contributing member of a team, using knowledge, and skills obtained through education and experience
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in IT Business analyst or related role
  • Three (3) or more years of experience working in the Oil and Gas industry preferred
  • Experience working with Terminal Management Software (TMS) and SCADA preferred
  • Ability to communicate business needs to technical staff, as well as communicate and simplify complex technical information for non-technical users
  • Ability to assemble business asks into functional specifications and translate into technical specifications
  • Knowledge of software development and project management methodologies, specifically Agile and Kanban
  • Data analysis capabilities
  • Strong project and time management skills; ability to execute on multiple concurrent projects and initiatives
  • Ability to handle multiple roles and responsibilities as an engaged member of a team; collaborate with team members on tasks and shared responsibilities
  • Ability to establish strong business relationships and work effectively with business clients across varying levels in the organization, including senior management and field personnel
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills in customer settings and with internal management along with solid listening, facilitation, and presentation skills
  • Strong documentation and organization skills, with attention to detail and content presentation
  • Ability to independently identify and pursue opportunities for improvement in efficiency and quality in business and IT departments alike
