Job Title: Commodity Manager
Location: Denver, Colorado
Job Summary
We are looking for a Commodity Team Manager. This is a key contributor leadership role, supporting the production ramp-up and continued improvement of our paradigm changing MRI-guided radiation therapy system. We are looking for a high energy, exceptionally qualified materials professional, with a proven track record of managing teammates to the successes in launching new products into the supply chain, driving aggressive cost reductions, while ensuring reliable, high quality supply. The successful candidate will have some leadership experience with expectations of further growth and potential for an expanded leadership role. 
Responsibilities
  • Lead team that supports all Supply Chain related activities including capacity reviews, inventory reviews, production and purchase orders, inventory status, and supplier maintenance.
  • Ensure team is meeting day to day activities and long-term strategic initiatives to drive continuous improvements, including lead-time reductions, minimizing supplier risks, and cost and quality improvements.
  • Lead weekly and ad hoc meetings with purchasing and cross functional teams as needed.
  • Direct and oversee the work of purchasing professionals, including training, mentoring and insuring professional development. Establish performance expectations, skill and competency development plans. Identify talent gaps and implement improvement plans as necessary.
  • Guide teammates through MRP and other tools and information to forecast and procure materials necessary to meet the build plan and fulfill assigned materials requirements.
  • Assumes role of as the manager of the ViewRay-Supplier contract and Supply Agreement, and acts as gatekeeper of the overall supplier relationship within the company.
  • Works with engineering, quality, and purchasing teams to assist in new products and implement product changes within the supply base.
  • Participates and help guides purchasing team in supplier audits, helps identify, track and manage supplier quality issues, and supports activities and processes to drive corrective actions.
  • Performs and provides analysis including supplier’s price/margin analysis, optimum purchase quantities, total cost of purchase, and other related analyses.
  • Leads and supports pricing negotiations; participates in development of supply agreements and procurement contracts.
  • Supports selection and qualification of new suppliers.
  • Initiate JIT/KanBan system at key supplier locations.
  • Manage and drive Quarterly Business Review for key suppliers.
  • Supports development, negotiations/implementation of major cost reduction initiatives within ViewRay’s supplier base.
  • Ensure purchasing team follows all procurement and quality system related procedures and processes to guarantee full compliance to company, regulatory and legal requirements.
Education, Experience, Skills
  • 7+ years experience as a purchasing professional with a minimum of 3 years of progressive leadership responsibilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with a technical degree preferred; MBA highly desirable.
  • Dedicated to the mission of improving peoples lives by developing game changing tools in the fight against cancer.
  • The candidate must have a high level of personal integrity, honesty and commitment to embrace established procedures and best practices.
  • Strong professional and leadership presence; clear ability to effectively manage the supplier relationship up to the VP/executive level, and with the ability to clearly articulate the company vision and mission and flow-down requirements and expectations for high quality materials supply.
  • Must be able to excel in a team environment and have the ability to coordinate activities among engineering, service, installation, quality, accounting & supplier stakeholders.
  • Experience working in medical capital equipment companies, including both large organizations and start-ups.
  • Previous experience in assisting with the establishment of company policies, operational. objectives, and work plan that affect immediate operations and may also have company-wide effect.
  • Experience in a fast-pace NPI environment and especially with products containing a high degree of technical content.
  • Working level competence with MRP systems, report writers, PLM systems and other related tools and databases.
  • Direct experience and history of successes using continuous improvement tools to achieve operational efficiencies and cost reductions; training/competence in Lean, Six Sigma or other related methodologies highly desired.
  • Experience in pricing negotiations, outsourcing activities, and international supply chain development.
  • Experience working with third party logistics providers, multiple inventory locations and spare parts depots.
  • Candidate should possess working level understanding of purchasing and materials requirements within an ISO 13485 or FDA regulated environment.
